Default once and for all!

okay guys quick question on cardio...
if I go for a 30 minute run say 3 times per week, will this actually burn fat or just burn calories?

if I have a post workout meal to replace sugars etc, does this not just counteract what I worked for?

this one's been annoying me for a while lol, cheers for any help

Burning calories will eventually burn fat. Every 3500 calorie deficit will result in a lbs lost. I don't think you can directly burn fat. Someone can help you with that.

What you are wanting to do apart from just burning calories while you are exercising is raise your metabolic rate so that you burn more calories through the day as well.

Howardalex...why are you running so much?
Don't you always complain that you're skinny already?
You should try and retain your muscle as much as you can. Keep your runs short, if possible.

Alex the more musles you'll build the easier it'll get to burn the unwanted fat.I do agree with jennyd that you have complained about being skinny.

If i remember right you said you have 12-13% bodyfat. Is that right? If yes then mate thats not much at all, unless you want the Bruce Lee look.

More and more people want the six pack but remember they can only be seen when you remove your shirt. On the other hand size will be noticed no matter what your wearing.

How about bulking first and then cuting later? In the end its your call.

cheers for the responses guys, yeah I'm at 12-13% BF and I definitely want to get bigger but I also want to get my bodyfat down, just enough to see abs

I guess I'm gonna have to tweak my diet too,my main goal is 175lb with visible abs by this summer

I just want the abs so I can feel comfortable taking the shirt off really, the size is also a big desire but not as important as being cut atm

I'm gonna try proper carb timing and a really good diet so I can have a go at both

You will burn energy, from the sounds of your other posts it seems like your diet is sh!t. I know it's tough as a student lol but it's important to your goals. Personally I wouldnt worry about your bf as it is low anyway but it's upto you, if you expect to add serious muscle mass you should expect your bf to rise somewhat. So when you get down to ten it will only rise again when you decide to bulk.

nail on the head job! I think I've seen the end of beginners' gains (9lb in 5 weeks, maintaining BF %) and now it's time to sort out my diet...I dunno abou the idea of bulking because of the extra BF, I think just cleaning up my diet'll allow me to lose a few lb of fat while maintaining the muscle I have and then I'll worry about bulking
