I dunno about a pc but I have some mac software called 'ipodRip' - it's the best sh!t for extracting your sounds to a new machine.

Here it is for Mac

iPodRip 3.9.1 - VersionTracker:

* edit - here it is for PC

iPodRip Win 2.8 - VersionTracker

You'll have to use something like cammo suggested as apple software does not allow you to transfer from an ipod to computer only from computer to ipod.

Luckily for me, I have an old school Ipod & haven't upgraded my software so I can plug mine into anyones machine & do what I want (apart from rip the songs - that's what ipodrip's for ).
