Most movies that say they are based on a true story really aren't. Just influences maybe
It didnt take place in the same place, and you know hollywood, but the main plot is "influenced" on true life events.

Neways im not too familiar with it but I just dont like these genres of movies. I like my comedies!

Well the murders were also in Texas and the guy was a killer and he did have human body parts all over his house made into chairs and etc...

So it has some characteristics, but 75% of everything else was made up for Hollywood

Hey, anyone seen "An American haunting" based on the bell witch?
How loosely based is that movie?

Can you imagine cutting off your wifes head by accident, he was up on a ladder pruning a tree and their dog was jumping up at his wife who was holding the ladder and he just came falling down on her, he passed out for a while and came around and found his wifes head on the grass, i just couldnt carrying on living after that.

No I cant imagine that at all, it would really really really suck. I prolly would have killed myself no doubt.

Its crazy how fast things can change.

Totally understand that. My friend died from a rare form of strep. I didnt even know untill about a week after his death. I came back from spring break, one where i was extremely sick, had a 105degree temp and really was the worst ive ever felt. I come back and find out he died from the same thing I had.

The reason was because the stupid doctors in NY. He had a 105 degree temp also i was told, his parents brought him to the hospital, they said he was fine just go home get some sleep and you know rest up. He eventually the next night was coughing up blood and when his parents called the ambulence he died in their arms. It could have easily been prevented if they just gave him some stupid pills.

Such a small thing between life and death. When I use to imagine it, I always thought it would be a big event, like you would know when your about to die. He was 15 man, had a great life ahead of him, I had the same thing as him but I got anitbiotics and im here. He didnt and died. Since then ive come to grasp with the fact that an instanst, one millimeter can seperate life from death at any given moment.

An American Haunting had a great deal of potential to be a good horror film but, IMHO, it had failed greatly.

Another Hollywood let-down and i wouldnt buy it, rent it if you must.

And yeah i agree, I just hate the phrase "based" on cause to me it seems a mimic copy of events, like a war movie is based on, perhaps, a specific battle in WWII...

Influenced is the right word, but your right and the way Hollywood uses the phrase to attract audiences.

Propaganda almost lol.

I thought Saw 3 was pretty freakin sweet. I think it's just the type of person you are if you like all the gore or not. For some reason i do, i have no idea why, but it's entertaining. If it wasn't entertaining they wouldn't keep making movies gorrier. Saw 1 was the best one though.

comedies are so metro.

EDIT: I agree with the theme of the thread, I prefer the Halloween psych type thrillers. A little blood is fine. But why not kill in creative ways such as the sleeping bag bat that Jason used?

Yeah. That's true. Pure gore is not scary or frightening. Producers should focus more on making films with scenes that would make you jump, and a little blood would be fine then.
