Default new vehicle

we are preparing to purchase a new vehicle. we are currently looking at used models, 2005 or 2006...maybe 2004 if the mileage is very low.

hoping you all could give your opinions on the vehicles we are looking at. I have a large family, two carseats to fit, two adults, and one child. Currently have a minivan with increasing problems and my preference is to find a 7 passenger suv.

I checked out consumer reports and found a few 7 passenger recommended vehicles.

Oh, our price range is 20k...but may go to 25k depending on the deal. We could get more, but we are cheap. Cheap, but still wanting to purchase a vehicle that has greater than average value retention...picky, huh? lol Figure I'll get a fancy schmancy car when my kids are older and there is less chance they'll barf in it or make other kid messes.

So far my list includes...
Toyota Highlander with 3rd row
Buick Rendezvous...if it's good enough for Tiger Woods...it should be good enough for me.
Toyota 4Runner with the extra seating...I love this car from the outside, but it is a truck and not sure if I want to drive a truck
Honda Pilot

I think there are more, but this is overwhelming me. Help!

My husband wants to look at Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, but...grrr...minivans.

So any ideas?

Go for the Honda Pilot... Hondas last forever and have good value..

The toyota is also a good one, but they are back heavy and waste alot of gas.

Good luck and good riddens to the minivan.. Tell your hubby that you are one hot mama and want a sweet ride.

Looks like you are staying away from American vehicles - good choice !

I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna - only changed the oil and replaced the tires in 6 years....they look good and have power with good gas milage...great vehicle. Have you ever driven a mini van ? easy to drive....

I would say go with the Pilot, but they may be out of your price range. They have only been out for a few years and Hondas hold their value. I wouldnt recommend getting the first model year either. There is usually kinks that need to be worked out over the first year and its usually the first years that have the most problems (we had a first year Odyssey after they redid it in 99 and we had a bunch of small problems... wiring, ect...)

I like the Jeep Grand Cherokee but as I'm pretty sure they're only a 5 seater. They redid them in 04 or 05 and they're real nice.

If not Pilot I would go Highlander or 4runner.

Sounds like you need to pick up a Hummer. Great on the road and off, plenty of room for the kids, and dickheads never pull out in front of you.
