sweetest day
Ok, my first sweetest day with my new gf (of about 9 months). I had totally forgot about it until I received an e-card from her last night. What should I get her, card or flowers or plant? I'm going to her house for dinner tonight. Keep in mind we are both on a budget (work part-time and go to school full-time) and she knows I can't afford much. I was thinking maybe a card and a small plant with orange flowers (her favorite color).

I do not observe fake holidays that were created by the greeting card and flower industry. If you want to do something special for your girl do it on a day she does not expect it.....and do it because you love her not because TV commercials tell you to..

I know, I hate these "extra" holidays. I think valentines day is enough. I was going to get her something a couple weeks ago, probly should have. Anyway, if I don't get something, she may be upset or think I forgot, so I don't know, maybe just the flowers...

Sweetest Day Sweetest Day Observed by Mostly Midwestern United States Type Local Date Third Saturday in October 2006 date October 21 Celebrations Remembering friends and loved ones, buying cards and candy Sweetest Day is a holiday celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region and parts of the Northeast United States[1] (with Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo, New York being the biggest Sweetest Day cities[2]) on the third Saturday in October. It is described by Retail Confectioners International, a Candy Trade Organization, as an "occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed."[2] Critics call Sweetest Day an artificial holiday created by the Candy and Greeting Card Industries solely to boost the revenues of candy and greeting card companies. New York being the biggest sweetest day city huh?
