Oddly enough, I don't own a digital camera and I even work in the IT field. Never been a big picture person, however we are going to Mexico in December and will def be taking lots of pictures and digital format will make it easier. What brand/model camera would you guys suggest or stay away from. Not looking for a $5-600 camera, but a typical 100-250 range?

I have a canon, I love it. I had a canon before, but it was 1.2 megapixels and we recently purchased a 5 megapixel. It is easy to use and takes great pictures. Purchased at walmart...I see that it is less expensive now that what we paid for it though. Always works that way.
It's a canon powershot a560. It is not one of the very tiny ones, but not too big either. I hate the tiny ones, just like I hate teeny phones...they end up getting broken at my house. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4698943

I only ever owned two digi cams in my whole life...they were both Sony. The first one was 4.1 pix and it was great until I dropped it in the water in Cuba last year...it was finished..lol
The one i have now is 6.1 pix and it is awesome...I love sony but then again I've never used anything else. It was 330.00 CAD.. I've heard Canon is great too! Oh the one I have now is a cyber-shot. Last edited by fitme; 10-20-2006 at 10:35 AM. |

we were looking at the kodak easyshare with 10x zoom, but it was too big and bulky. I rarely even use zoom on mine because I can just crop it or whatever when I put the images on my pc.
I think they should make cameras with a lcd cover...like retractable because i worry constantly about scratching the screen. I also like mine because the big lens sucks up and closes automatically when the camera is off. It takes two AA batteries, I use rechargeable batteries and they last a pretty long time. I had wanted one with a rechargeable battery unit, like a camcorder...but I prefer batteries now over that option. Get one like mine...get one like mine...we can be twins...LMAO ![]() here is my image quality and it also takes great pics when there is light behind the subject, like a glary light. My old camera would create a glare...say I was taking a pic of the kids in front of a window...this camera though takes wonderful pics. ![]() seriously though, you can get any camera you want . I'm just practicing my marketing skills. It is a good camera though.

Well we just got a digital camera, FINALLY! We picked up a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. Pretty nice camera. Gotta get to playing around with it. One thing i didn't realize until after I bought it, was that it actually is capable of switching lenses which is nice to have as an option.
