Default family/work dilemma

Okay, so I work at a big company, but a small department..like 23 employees and about six months ago my mom applied for a job at my company, well we had an opening and my boss called her without realizing she was my mom...so now she works where I work. This is okay...he asked me if it would be alright and I agreed cause we do not work together.

So now we have another opening and my sister applied for a job at my company a few months ago, not in my dept, but as a coder in patient finance...not even in the same building. Apparently her resume was selected for this open position because she met the criteria and my boss called her for an interview!

I feel horrible, but I cannot have my entire family working with me.

what do I do? my sister is mad at me because she wants a good job, but she never sticks with anything and would be working with me. She has personal issues that overlap into her worklife and this would reflect on me.

I think she is mad at me because i got sort of upset about it. I really think my company needs to screen the resumes...she indicated on her application that both myself and my mom worked here. I feel like my boss should have never called her and put me in this position.

I feel horrible.

I talked to her again and she said she is fine because she is not ready to go back to work yet.

So I guess it is not an issue anymore.

oh girl, I feel for you - I would NEVER want any of my family members working with me - I'm sorry, I do not have any answers, other than your sis should respect you for why you feel the way you & I hope you are able to find some sanity, because if I worked with my mom, I'd be locked away in a looney bin!

sometimes my mom drives me insane, but for the most part she leaves me alone. The only time it sucks is when we have operations meetings in the afternoon and I look over and it looks like she is falling asleep. It embarrasses the hell out of me, one time I had to kick her foot to get her to pay attention. I hope I'm not like that when I get older.

Most of my in-laws work at the same place. Whenever I go to a gathering (which is as seldom as possible), that's all I hear about.

My sis and my brother used to work at the same place. She hated it cause she's kinda nerdy and my brother is the complete opposite, and she was always afraid he'd do something to make her look bad.

And then all the other girls that she worked with would always talk about how good looking they thought my brother was, and she hated that.

She quit to go raise 3 babies though, so all is well. LOL.

Hanna, your mother and sister were hired based on their qualifications! Did H.R. ask you for input about them? If not, let them do their thing and it should in no way be a reflection on you. My wife works for the same company I do, on my recommendation she apply, but not in the same building, department, or shift. If she messes up or is a discipline problem, those issues she has to deal with, not me.

I used to work with my sis @ many different jobs and am now trying to get her into my company. I don't personally have a problem because she has a good work ethic and we could tag team everyone.. The twins that get away with murder they've called us.. BTW, we look like twins but aren't..

We have a sneaky way about us!!!

This is interesting. Me and my siblings, two sisters, all interned at the same place before and at the same time. Saved a lot of money on gas!!
