Unhappy Fasting and training

As most of you know that i'm a muslim. Many say that Islam is quite strict. While i dont want to comment on that, i must say that the month of ramzan(ramadan)is quite strict.

I live in Norway and here i'll have to fast for 14 hours straight!Still i have no problem with that. The only problem i have is that i lost a lot of musle every year in this monthAfter fasting for 14 hours i get quite tired as well.So cant eat that much after breaking fast.

On top of that we also have special pryers for ramzan, which are quite long.It takes me more then 2 hours to go to mosque say my pryers and come back home.

So the 14 hours plus these 2 hours means 16 hours without eating or drinking anything! On top of that i go to my job as usual and the 8 hours there while fasting feals like being in hell to me.

Its hard to train in ramzan to be honest but i try to go to gym twice or thrice a week.

harsh mate, shame you can't train and stuff at night

have you thought about maybe taking a lucozade or something? you could get some carbs in quickly before prayers perhaps - that may knock some of the time lost to going to the mosque off...

do you have to go to a mosque every night? I know my mate prays 6 times a day with one at 4 in the morning but he does it at home, finds north etc
I'm gonna guess you have to go to a mosque with it being a special time

hope you can keep your muscle during this time

Can you take BCAA's during this time?

If so, I'd say to megadose on those babies.
It could perhaps help stave off some of the ill effects of the fasting?

maybe with some maltodextrin? that'd make it take effect faster, no?

If you are fasting then anything that supplies the body with nutrients would be not allowed no? if it's the case there is not a lot you can do, if anything training without the nutrition could be even more counter productive.

With what i know about fasting your not allowed anything to past your lips so take lots of rest, shy away from any activity that will burn major cals if possible.

Try loading up on some Micellular Casein or Calcium Casein protein before your fast begins each day. It is slow digesting, and should help keep your body supplied with protein for 6-8 hours. You can get it at trueprotein; you can also e-mail the the folks there to see what they suggest. Dante (DC) is a co-owner of trueprotein.

PJ are you saying that i should'nt train this month?I'm considering that to tell you the truth. Its hard to train while fasting and after breaking fast i'll have to go to mosque in 15 minutes to say pryer.

Last year i trained thrice a week but to tell you the truth i think it was foolish of me to do that while fasting. So i have decided to skip training for 1 month this time around. What do you suggest?

The trouble is that i have to go to the mosque just 15 minutes after breaking fast.So i can't take anything like lucozade Your right about it being a special time for us and thats why i'll have to go to the mosque to say my pryers.

Another reason is that my wife will kick my ass if i dont go to the mosque Ohh well...i love her more then anything in this world and thats the least that i can do to make her happy.

fasting, must be the one thing you wouldnt want to do whilst building muscle.
YIKES!!!

from what i have learnt at college so far try and eat complex carbohydrates, such as poatatoes, these take longer for your body to digest and breakdown so it supllys you with energy for longer throught the day,
