Best lesson is falling down. Just go do it and try to be safe, you will catch on fast.

I used to roller blade all the time, jumping off and over crap. 360's, backwards forwards, nothing too crazy. Its blast, but my fat ass hasnt strapped em on in years.

I play competetive roller hockey for the past 5 years cause of an ice hockey injury so listen up.

You want to get better, don't start going down hills. Start off by skating somewhere flat, like an outdoor lacrosse box is perfect.

DO NOT DRAG YOUR TOE to slow down. Its a bad habit and its terrible for your wheels. If you're really serious about this, buy indoor wheels and wear them outside. They're softer so you get much more grip, you can turn sharp without falling. But they do wear out faster.

Lastly, have people around you to push you to be better. Much like having a friend that is slightly stronger in the gym, play a game of pickup hockey and you will learn.

Good luck.
