I had this email back and forth with the owner of my gym yesterday. Check it out:
Owner (Ed): "Also, how is your wife's weight doing? Has she been able to get down to her ideal weight? If not, the Slenderfx may be something to discuss. We are having huge successes with it. Ed (here are the "testimonials" ) http://www.fortmyersfitness.com/main...ions&pageName= Me: "RE: my lovely bride, ah, no. With all her medical conditions, she is limited in her ability to exercise. Her diet is way off too. I am asking the Lord for strength and guidance as my transformation over the past 2 years is a thorn in her side! Thanks for thinking of her though… Pray for me! "Owner: "OK, good luck with that. Let her know the Slender does not interact with meds. Losing unwanted unneeded weight can solve a lot of health problems. You can even have her talk to some of our female members about it. Sometimes it's better from someone else than the husband." My God! This guy is nuts. I have spent over 2 years in his gym and made my gains/transformation all by myself. Through my own education and workout routines I have lost 34 pounds. Not once as he had any positivie comments about it. So now he thinks he can help my wife? Does he think that his "elixir" will change my wife's attitude or ability to work out and eat right? These comments coming from a guy who has told me that he does not care if his clients get healthier. "They are just checks to me." Here is a link to the product site. http://www.american-longevity.net/slenderfx.htm and the company website: http://www.youngevity-health.net/opp.htm This type of crap is why I am looking for a new gym. I am interested in your comments on the product as I believe it is just slick packaging// Comments on this type of "marketing" within the gym. Did I join a gym or a store front? Sheesh!

Yea I did just ignore his last email. He has no idea about what my wife's condition is nor does has he ever asked. Hell, he doesn't even care about my gains. Not that I think he should but I would be a better salesman for his gym then some no-name product company! People can look at me before & after and I can say "Yep. I joined this gym, changed my diet, and this is the result." When I asked, I would tell them what supps I was on and how effective they were.

Tell him you are going to go with this new fade for losing weight, and that's controlling diet, and adding in this new thing they call "exercise". Tell him your wife has been reading this hype about "diet and exercise" and how they have produced some amazing results.

Narc...I'd be looking for a new gym too. I freakin' hate when people that know shiet about my disorder tell me about 'miracle cures'. What many of them don't seem to realize is that someone like me has researched myriad hundreds of options, medications, herbal remedies, homeopathic remedies, chinese remedies....you name it. I've probably researched it if it even remotely could have helped me and brought me relief. In the end...even though I have daily pain, diet and exercise and working to keep a positive mental outlook have served me well. And yes, the fact that he pretty much has ignored your gains and suddenly has a 'cure' for your wife. That would be the nail in the coffin for me.

As always, you give sound advice. I actually watched this owner snatch a cell phone from a lady that was sitting on a piece of equipment talking to her grandmother. The owner had been joking with her saying "no talking on cell phones while on the equipment." I thought he was just joking but then he reached over, tussled with her over the phone, and, once he got the phone, closed it! My God! It was her phone! Rude schmuck! I am looking at joining the the World Gym near my house. We shall see.

We have a 'no cell phone' policy in our gym. But the trainers/staff have let us know that they understand about emergency calls. If he wanted her off the equipment he should have told her so in a matter of fact manner. Tusseling over a phone could get him in deep shiet!
I like my YMCA...no supplements, no fancy sheit. Granted it doesn't have a T-bar row or Hack Squat machine...but it's got many of the basics and the staff is pretty darned decent. So I can't complain.
