Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.

NOTE: Internet Explorer is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs tool if you delete the uninstall (or backup) information for the previous version of Internet Explorer. In Windows 2000, installing a service pack also removes Internet Explorer from the Add/Remove Programs tool (but uninstalling the service pack restores Internet Explorer to the Add/Remove Programs tool). Not sure. You either have to uninstall it from the registry or possibly uninstall it from your Windows disk.

Im sure someone else may know.

Thanks Rickster. I never knew of that trick. I have Windows XP and I went to add/remove programs in my control panel. In a pane on the left side its says Windows components. I clicked it and it gave me the options to remove the explorer and other programs.

Not that I want to but its nice to know its there.

I find it's best to leave IE on your system but use Firefox as your default browser, that way it will open instead of IE when called by a program. IE can be useful but usually is no different than Firefox, and is WAY more susceptible to viruses, trojans, worms etc. It's honestly much safer to just not use it. In 'Tools' 'Options' in Firefox you can have it check to see if it is the default browser, do this and make it the default. Then you can address any of the issues IE might have caused while not using it. Also Outlook Express will be removed if you remove IE...pretty sure about that. Made that mistake once and it was a nightmare.

bump

thats what i did. made mozilla/firefox my default, makes things easier. and i hate microsoft in general, lol.

and ReD_WingS i don't think ull b able to make firefox default used when using msn. i don't think they'd let u do it, atleast not easily, or without hacking something in the prog. add hotmail-login to ur favourites?
