I was with my daughter-of-my-heart when she got her first one. She has a butterfly on her lower back with her daughter's names written above it. Very pretty small and delicate.
Think carefully about what and where you want it. I'm glad I didn't get the tattoo's I had wanted when I was younger. Now I've got 5 planned, all of which I'm designing myself and 3 of which I almost have the designs finished. They are all a bit unique and represent me and what my life has been like...the joys and the pain. As for what you will look like when you are a grandmother...heck I am a grandmother ... and I could care less what people are going to think when they see my back. (My tattoo's are going to stretch across the back of my shoulders, and one will be on my lower back.) My big worry...when I finally settle myself down and start having the work done I won't be able to backpack for a while.

Only thing I will say fitme is think about it. Understand why you are getting one (usually it is something very personal), and pick something you will be happy with forever. I don't have any tat's but if I did, I would want something that reminds me of b-in-law who passed away while ridin his Harley. Go for it sista! Ooo and do post pics when the deed is done! You too Hawkwind! Maybe a lat spread????

I got my tat when I was 20 & to this day I adore it (11 years later) I smoked that day, the only day I ever have, but I had too ouch, 8 hours, ouch!
I have the Virgo sign & a butterfly between my shoulder blades - I wouldn't change a thing. I hate pain, I understand your fear, just make sure you are getting something that will have the same meaning now as when you are a grandma! Also, they are addictive - I want another, but my husband says no! good luck & let us see the results!

If you decide to get one, make sure it's something you really want to have, something with some meaning behind it and make sure to think about it for along time. Dont just walk into the tattoo parlor and pick something off the wall or from one of their books. People usually end up with regrets when doing this. Also the smaller the better on a girl (just my opinion)
You should come up with a design. Even if you are not artistic and can't draw, you can still come up with a basic scheme or idea and then take that example into a reputable tatto artist and he will do his magic. |
