Hey guys! What's up with you all? Well I've been down and out for quite some time but I'm going to try to be around a bit more now though.
As alot of you might know, I took a job up @ an organic supermarket called Wild Oats. That lasted about 2 weeks (I officially quit last Monday to be exact) because I originally agreed with one of the two managers of my section that I would be working 5 days a week, 6 hours a day with 2 days off and on those days off I wouldbe working at another job I had been previously working at for a few years. The days we agreed I would have off, since I was "obligated" to work one day out of the weekend because "it's not fair to the other employee" or some b/s like that, it was decided I would have off Tuesdays and Saturdays. That lasted about one week. lol I started on the 17th of July I believe, which was a Monday if I'm not mistaken and the company's schedule starts on Sundays, but I had gotten a copy of my first week and it was composed of a 30 hour week (part-time) with Tuesday and Saturday off and I worked 4 PM - 10 PM like we had orginally discussed. I hadn't been there for a week and my 2nd week's schedule was already a mess: Working ever day from 1PM-10PM with Tuesday and Thursday off. I wouldn't care if I didn't have another job to work at on Saturdays so I told one of my manager's that wasn't present at my interview to put together my schedule what the issue @ hand was and after 30 min. talk, the only solution she could come up with was, "Well there's nothing we can do, the schedule is already in and we can't change it. You can go back to working 4-10 PM but I need you to come Saturday because we're doing inventory. I hadn't been there for a week and they were already messing up my schedule and telling me I had to miss one day from my other job to work for them because "they need me" when the real deal was that they fcuked up. I didn't end up going on Saturday like they had scheduled me to go but I called one of my co-workers and told her to let the manager know that I was calling in sick and I wasn't going to make it. Why I didn't call the store and talk to the manager DIRECTLY?....Don't ask. I had a Homer Simpson "Doh!" moment. Ended up being that my co-worker didn't relay the message and when I showed up for work on Sunday, one of the main store manager told me that my manager had said that she didn't want me to work that day and she wanted me to come in the following day to talk to her and the Store Director lol So I go in to talk to them the next day and the SD basically didn't understand the fact that it wasn't my problem that they messed up on the schedule and that they wanted me to come in on a day that I was scheduled to work @ another job. I wasn't there to work any more hour than I agreed with my other manager. I was there only to put in my hours, put in the work that is expected of me and get paid. Simple?...obviously not to them. In the end, "due to inflexibility and my incoherent reasoning, we were going to have to part ways", is what the fat troll of a Store Director told me. lmao After being real respectful and calm with the SD, something flipped in my head and said that I should say what I have to say now because the other way of talking and being wasn't getting me anything except fired so I said fcuk it! "Alright well if you want to be technical and use all these big words on me, TECHNICALLY, I'm not the one that's inflexible because you guys don't understand that I have another job and you want me to miss a day of another job that I've been at for way longer just because you guys have inentory. Second of all, if you want to talk about incoherent reasoning, think about what I just said. You want me to miss a day that I've been scheduled to work for almost a year and a half now because YOU GUYS fouled up on the schedule and I'M THE ONE that can't reason?" You know what? Let me know what papers I have to sign so I can be on my way and try and make this day a little more productive than sitting here going backwards." Dave, the Store Director says, "Oh you're not going to have to sign any papers. See what I'm going to do is put in a resignation saying that you're quitting due to personal reasons. I'm going to do YOU a favor and not put that we fired you because you know, TECHNICALLY you violated the TOS by not calling your Store Manager and letting her know you weren't coming therefore, putting her through tons of grief and stress." "Grief? I didn't know someone died but ok if you want to call it that, go for it." I couldn't believe what I was hearing so I sat there looking kind of confused I guess because he says "What's the problem? You not understanding what I'm saying? Do you want me break it down on a platter andn spoon feed it to you?" You're kidding me right? I've been sitting here real respectful trying to not rip his head off for being an ignorant son of a b!tch and he's gonna look me in the face and try me like that? So I got up and told him, "You know what I don't give a **** about you or this job. You don't mean **** to me. Put whatever the fcuk you want on that paper. I've been working here for barely 2 weeks, you think I'm going to giva fcuk what you put on that sh!t? I'm not putting you as a reference or on my resume. Put I burned the place down or that I stole half your merchadise for all I care. All I know is that I'm going to come back in one week and you better make damn sure you cut my check by then or there's going to be bigger things than your fcuking TOS getting violated." And that was that. I walked out of the store and went to work @ my other job lol. MORAL OF THE STORY: Corporate companies don't give a sh!t about anyone, especially if you're a little young ol' teenager in college. They'll overwork you to death whether your mother is in the hospital or you don't have a schedule to coincide with the work expected from you. I know so many OLDER people with CAREERS with corporate companies that had been there for 17 or 18 years, about to retire in 2 years, doing great @ their job and the smallest reason, whatever it might be, it could be you got to work 5 min. late on day, they've been fired on a Friday @ 5:00 PM right as they're about to clock out. Corporate companies are only looking out for themselves and their profit, stocks, investments, etc. If you're a teenager and you ever run into a problem like this with a company where they're trying to bust your balls and the job isn't what you agreed on when you were first getting interviewed, FCUK IT. There's tons of other places that will hire high school/college students that won't bust your chops about ridiculous things. This is just one more reason to go to school and get your eh-jew-ma-cay-shun and get a degree in what you WANT to work in and be able to go out there into the world and say I would like to work these hours and do this type of work because I have this document that says I've mastered this art and I'm capable of taking your company places it's never been because YOU need ME. "Anywho"....what's up guys? How's your lives been?

Your moral is spot on because the turnover is so high, and so many young people needs jobs, the stores don't care. They don't care that you have a life and/or other commitments that effect your life, they don't care, and they are proud of it.
I do feel for the younger people or thoses trying to make a little extra to get by with and have to deal with companies like this.
