Me & the US Military!
Regarding a previous thread made by USMC102703.
I had a couple of idiotic & harrasing PM's from this guy regarding a post I made in one of his threads that I'm not going to go into. Anyway - Hanna hit the nail on the head with this post: Quote:

It's called freedom of speech, that's what the military is supposed to be protecting. And Cammo is not even in the US so it's a mute point.

I'm in the US Air Force and, my experience is that Marines are taught to be fiercely nationalistic. I appreciate the job they do and I imagine that to do it this is an essential element to keeping their morale high. Personally, I am of the opinion that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" in many cases. I also defer to Voltaire in saying "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I don't take any offense to your comments. And not to excuse the other member's behavior, but (not to generalize) it's just how Marines are.

Cammo, my friend, I have worked around every branch of the military in the U.S. Yep, even the Coast Guard. I think you have run across one of those "hard chargers", "Kill them all! Let God sort them out!" jarheads. I have met a few of these mentally challenged, but faithfully obedient, blokes. Usually they are fresh recruits, just out of boot, who are willing to take on the world and they honestly believe they can win! I have met a few UK troops of the same caliber so it is not just a US deal. Sorry that this person littered you PM box. Those of us that read your posts have great respect for you. Never feel you have to explain but you can vent any time.

I'm in the Air Force as well and I could care less what peoples opinions are of Iraq or the military. If I was to go around caring what other people said and thought all the time I'd be one pissed off dude. I for one didn't take offense to anything you said. People have the right to voice their opinion and people have the right to be or not to be pissed off about it. Marines are bred to believe the more aggressive they are the more they'll be persuasive. I wouldn't worry about it Cammo, he's probably the only one you pissed off.

So if we bash our government or president then were anti american also? With Freedom of speech you either have it or you dont. You dont get to selectively choose what you can and cant talk about freely. Thats called censorship.
