Default what the hell!

so me and my girlfriend and some of her friends go swimming and tubbing all afternoon in our very large lake "cold lake"..which is also the name of the town.. but anyway, after we spent hours in the lake we got out and we were all ichy and one of her friends broke out in hives. then this morning when i wake up i have like a 1000 red dots everywhere around my body.. looks like chicken pocks but more pocks.. and wake up my gf and she has them to. picked up some benadryl and it doesnt seem to be working. apparently her other friends woke up with these spots to.

now.. our lake supposedly reaches the water drinking stardard before even being purified.. and i believe it.. most of the lake is very very clear and clean. but the spot we were in was a little murky with some seaweed and bubbles on the surface. what do you people think it may be.. im going to try and work out at the gym with a long sleve.. i cant stand this inching though.. have any ideas on what it could be?

Swimmers Itch

I got this from another site:

"It sounds like he has swimmer's itch, or cercarial dermatitis. The spots are an allergic reaction to the larvae of a tiny parasitic worm that's present in some bodies of water. The parasite doesn't live in humans, but the larvae burrow into the skin and then die. (Its normal hosts are birds.) After swimming, your child might feel tingling, burning, or itching. Then, within 12 hours, little reddish pimples appear, which may eventually blister. You'll generally see the rash only on areas that were not covered by a bathing suit. The rash and the itching will go away on their own, but it may take a week or longer."

Sorry dude "....a week or longer." doesn't sound good...

Now I have gotten chiggers when fishing. Those itch like crazy.

At least those are easy to get rid of. Just put some clear fingernail polish over the bites..

Sounds kinda like water mites (or water lice). Sometimes we have outbreaks of them here at the beaches and stuff. Usually an extra strength cortizone cream will help relieve the itching so you might want to try that if you haven't. Other than that, all I can say is maybe ask a pharmacist about it, or a doctor. I'd hate to wait a week or more for that stuff to go away. I think I'd go nuts.

Another reason when I swim, 99% of the time, I use a swimming pool.

hah ya man.. people didnt even believe that we got the itch from cold lake.. its such a beautiful lake but apparently in warmed up alot in some spots... which make it a good breeding ground for parasites... but i think it was jsut the spot we were swimming in.. it was a bay so there is not much circulation of water over there... im sure the rest of the lake is fine to go in.. but im not so eager to go back in jsut yet.
