Hey guys, I just had orientation the other day for nursing. Its going to be a year long program and its gonna be more to it than I thought. It looks like I'm going to have to drop back to part-time at work and I can't afford to. So I will have to take out another loan. Sucks cause I'll lose all my benefits at work too. I'm kind of having second thoughts. My mom and now my gf are'nt sure if I will like it, but my sister thinks I'll be ok at it. I really hate to back out now that I've got 2 years of classes invested and alot of money for the shots and stuff. I just don't know what else to do. I hate working at the factory and it does'nt pay enough either...

First question you need to ask is do you want to be a nurse? If so, do it. Nowadays you can walk in any hospital or clinic and name your price and they will pay you good.

I thought I did, but my gf was saying I know you don't like to be around sick people. She may be right because I try not to catch anything. I guess nobody does, but you have more chance to get something like tb or the flu working in a hospital. Maybe thats why they get paid so good and have all that sick time...

Personally, I don't know if nurses get sicker than the average joe but I highly doubt it - you'll probably build a more robust immune system if anything.

1 year will fly by, believe me, and you'll be doing something that you want to do (hopefully it's what you want) & you'll be getting more money in the long run. Seems like you've invested quite a bit of time (& maybe $$) up till now, it'd be a shame to waste it for the sake of 1 year.

If you don't do it, you'll be sitting here in a years time wishing you had!

BUMP^^

I have 2 nurses in my family and I work in the healthcare industry now! As NiteHawk says, in todays economic climate, nurses are severely needed. In our area, home builders will knock off $10-$15,000 when you buy a house just because you are a nurse! Not that you will be able to afford anything near the hospitals but if you don't mind a little commute! Come on down! And, if you get a Masters, OMG! Can you say 6 figure income? But you have to want it! You have to push through! Nothing new to us bodybuilders!
