Hey guys im a 21 male, and was thinking of buying a bike. Im from Ontario Canada and was wondering which bike I should prob buy. I know I want it sport, and prob either 500 cc or 600 cc .. and I was wondering on what you guys think. What would I be looking at in insurence for something liek this but from 98 or approx that.

Any bike junkies out there?

I learned on a cbr 600. Perfect bike for beginner, keep in mind that you'll outgrow it fast so dont buy a new one

Road bike or dirt bike?

Both the GSXR & CBR are good road bikes.

full coverage insurance will be very expensive so get an older bike and only purchase liability insurance. Mine was 54 buks a month I think.

thats true full coverage will cost you more then the bike itself. liability all the way just drive safe and you'll be fine

+1

Get a bike a generation or two back and you will be good. My '95 FZR costs me 200 a year and I am 19. Something like a 97-98 YZF-600 (Before their motors for nerfed for touring) would be a good choice for a beginner.

If all else fails, get a FZR400, and stick a YZF600 motor in there. It's almost a direct bolt in except for bending the mid pipe, and it would make a bike that makes 80-90ish HP in a under 300lbs bike. Loads of fun.

If you and under 25, your insurance isn't going to be fun. Where in Ontario are you? I know a place here in Hamilton that has a R600 for $7000, amazing bike, was looking at it today while my bike was in the shop. I also know someone with a kickass Buell for sale, $6500 I think.

Im just looking for the v v v v v basic inurance, ill have my m2 with a trianing course. 21 male/ Ontario no tickets or anything like that.

im looking to buy this fall/early winter when everyone wants to get of em and I got the most choice and lowest price

Sometimes the older bikes are more expensive for insurance than a newer one. I had a 90 Katana 1100 and a 98 GSXR 1000 and full coverage on the Katana was more expensive than the GSXR because body parts are harder to find and more expensive when you do find them. I could get a brand new set of farings for the GSXR for the same price as used farings for the Katana.

thats why I said get "liability" insurance only. there no point in having full coverage for a old bike thats not worth more than 2 grand.buy a old 600 first, get used to it, learn how to ride and then buy a powerful bike. You ll outgrow a 600 in 2-3 months if you really like to ride

If you have to get a loan for the bike, you are going to have to get full coverage. Nobody will sign off on a loan, unless you can just borrow the money without stating what it is for, unless the investment is protected.
