As of today the post counts have been removed.

The new system is a kind of respect meter, on each post made by another member you will see a weighing scale. Click that scale to give that person a good or bad rating for their post if you feel it deserves a rating...

the overall rating is shown on the right hand side of your screen name

Hopefully this will remove post whoring

the higher the reputation of a member, the more their vote will count.

Also, if you click on USERCP link up top, you will be able to view the reputation votes you receive, and comments about it.

lol NOW we decide to start making some changes here......i really wish the weighing scale tool would've been here when i first registered but oh well, better late than never....lol i can only begin to imagine how low my meter is gonna be lol

its a good idea though:

*keeps members in check (in the eyes of the everyone)
*keeps mods in check (in the eyes of the members)

at the end of the day its just a rating but can be a good indicator to a member who contributes a lot bodybuilding wise, or a member who is full of...

I disagree 100%, if a member is out of line too often then ban that member. The best sites I have found do not use the popularity BS system, easy enough for 10 or 20 members to gang up on one members like on BB.com.

there's no perfect system to do things unfortunately. post count is good is some ways, and poor in others, where a member could simple post whore in totally unrelated topics... this new way isn't perfect by any means either, like mentioned above. but it does have its merits.

Considering that this "new system" isnt gonna do sh1t for me now becausenow i'm drifiting away from this site.....lol <----thats all i can do. too bad you cant rate members on posts far back. i think alot of us have had tons of patience with the board and things of that nature. im no perfect ideal member myself so im just saying.........w/e.

I think that what will make or break this system is the maturity of board members. It works fine over at AM, but at bodybuilding.com it's kinda gay. Look at the two member bases you're dealing with between those two boards though, one tends to be mature and educated and the other tends to be, well, bodybuilding.com. One thing that's kinda nice however is that this will deter members from posting just for the sake of posting as there's really no point to it. Of course you could have both a post count and a reputation meter. That way if someone has something like 1500 posts but their reputation is static it kind of gives another comparison to the rest of the member base as opposed to simple rep meter.

If I can offer a word of advice, take the rep option out of the general chat and anything goes section. I have been to many sites where people would get repped for stupid sh!t, it was much better when the repping the whoring sections was removed.

Otherwise, good deal.

Yea, and it goes both ways, easy for those members to build up positively on one... not as prevalent im sure... but with the post count, you have the post whores, whose lives are to get the highest post count.... you all know who you are... either way, there are positives and negatives.
