I agree to a point, afnerd. But I think the majority of us just find them motivational.
The other thing is that yes, if you know what to look for, you can learn a lot of things by watching what a pro does. I know Ive learned tons about the techniques that Ronnie Coleman uses just by watching his videos. And yes, those techniques have helped me. You just have to know what to look for and what to pay attention to. As for Jay.......I dont like him. I admire his business acumen and his intelligence, but as bodybuilder I dont like him. Even the guys at Iron Man magazine who reviewed his video came very close to calling it half asss. They were very diplomatic, but if you read between the lines, they tell you why Ronnie's training is superior to Jay's. Thats why I will only check this video out if Brandon gives it a thumbs up. Brand has demanding tastes and some of his are along the same lines as mine. But to each his own. Plenty of room in this world for all of us.

so finally I get the video today.
I honestly must say from what I have seen (about 1.5 hours out of 6 hours) I was quite amazed with the overall production and the amount that a pro can put into his video. The fact that he spends so much time in all of his videos showing you deep inside his lifestyle and his family/social life is amazing. I am actually more excited watching that sort of stuff then him just working out. The video is shot within the final week up to the Olympia of 2005, and there after. It shows him getting ready for the show through training and dieting strategys. The most moving part of this dvd was when it showed Jay just before he got on stage for pre judging pumping up...then it went blank...then it shows him after coming in with his head down low and a check for $80,000+ that says "Mr. Olympia Second Place" This whole year he spent in training, also preparing himself for 17 weeks of hardcore dieting and training came down to this. All he could say was "this is bull****", a bunch of reporters wanted interviews but he just said "give me a minute" and sat there........it was really moving. So, as I watch more I will tell more, but so far this IS the best dvd ever...blows any ronnie dvd out of the water. I like Jay cause he is alot more personable then any other top pro besides Gustavo. Mitsuru Okabe did a wonderful job filming and editing this dvd as he has done wonders with Ronnie's "Cost of Redemption" and all of Jay's dvd's two thumbs up! |

USMC102703-
Thanks for posting that sample. I never really felt the want or need to watch a pro DVD until now. Jay has always been my favorite but I never thought watching him workout would motivate me, but now I realize that it does! Youre the man!
