here. not sure if its right.

first two pics, one of them is answer to number 1. not sure.

second is number two. but i wasn't sure if you missed a number in the question on accident. first equation of ^7sqrt[4x^5] looks funny, shouldn't there be a number in front of the ^7, what is the power of 7 the power of 7 of since there is no number or variable below it?

also, read this, I assume this is what was discussed in the class that you missed.

http://www.sosmath.com/calculus/inte.../rational.html

you can use the things talked about on that page to find your own answers to the problems yo have listed, I didn't feel like it so I used an online Integrator, so mine might be wrong. but if you use the instructions on that page you should come up with the answers.

Nope, that is the equation. The sq is raised to power of 7 I believe.
Thanks for the help and the link MM, A hero again.

Alright here I go. I'm going to explain as best I can how to do the problems.

The power integration formula is just
Integral(X^N) = (X^N+1)/(N+1)
So something like Integral(X) would be (X^2)/2 since X is to the one power, correct?

Now, you have powers in the demoninator. All this means is that if it is 1/X, it can be rewritten as X^-1. 1/X^2 would be X^-2. Once you realize this, integrating them is easy as the integration power formula still applies to them. Just remember that the 1/4 still has a X variable, it is just to the zero power (X^0 = 1, so this is true).

For the other problem, the forumla Integral(X^N) = (X^N+1)/(N+1) still applies! But when you take the 7th root, you are raising the variable to the 1/7 power. The square root is just to the 1/2 power. For something like in your example, 4X^5 to the 7th root, it can be rewritten as this: 4^1/7 * X^5/7.

4^1/7 is just a coefficient so it stays next to the X^5/7, and you can integrate X^5/7 using the same method as the last problem. You would end up with:

((4^1/7)*(X^12/7))/(12/7)

I hope that makes it a little easier. It's a ***** typing out math on forums, if you think about how I wrote it like how you would type it on a TI-83 or 89 it will be easier to see.

ok, cool. I wasn't sure, I thought the sq was raised, but the online integrator didn't support that, but the other link is a good informative link and you should be ble to work it from there.

have fun.
