* What is considered as "
excessive cardio" will vary depending on the individual. However, with consideration to dietary needs, 30 mins a day is no where near excessive for most people, be it 3 days or 5. Obviously intensity will play a major role, added in with the "length of" your cardio session....all are factors

* You do have something when you bring up negative aspects concerning excessive cardio as they certainly do exist. Besides being counter productive to your recovery, the worst part of excessive cardio is that is is
Catabolic. Which means that your body will force itself to burn muscle for fuel during and after your cardio session, and this you DO NOT want to happen.
Every 1lb of muscle you have, your body burns arund 60 more calories a day.
So the more muscle you have, the more efficient your body is at burning calories.

* When you say it can weaken bones and affect your joints, thats going to depend on the type of cardio you do..Running on asphalt will certainly be MUCH harder on your knees as opposed to running on grass or riding a bike.

* Muscle cannot "
turn into fat", or vice versa.
It doesnt work that way. You either have muscle or you do not, and the amount of bodyfat you have doesnt correlate in any way.
If you are asking for advice on specific cardio needs, (sprinting is great BTW) you should create a thread and list your goals, training and diet
Good luck
