Default Gaining muscle mass

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the forum and am seeking some advice. I've been weight training for about a month or so, almost every other day. I do see some results but I'm not too content with them. Do I need to or should I start to drink the protein shakes inorder to gain more muscle? Whey powder contains some form of milk product which will cause discomfort to me later for I'm lactose intolerant. Am I being too hard on myself, expecting too much, or should I start on the powder? Thanks!

Try the shakes with water and fruit blended. If it causes discomfort, toss it. Protein powders are not going to build you mass, eating solid protein whole foods will!

Protein powders are a supplement to diet. Myself, I cannot always get back to the house for a post-workout meal. So I keep powder on hand so I can mix a shake and go. You can find some out there that are lactose free. Iso Pure comes to mind...there are other brands.

I don't think anyone that is serious about training is ever completely content. We look in the mirror and we always see ways to improve.

If you want to gain muscle you simply need to eat more food. Specifically foods that are high in protein and rich in complex carbohydrates. Forget about shakes.

+1

When there does come a time for supplementation with shakes, there are plenty of lactose free protein powders on the market.

Get your diet in check as mentioned before starting any supplementation though.

Thanks everyone for all your input. A bit of time has passed since I last checked this post. I have been working out faithfully but I'm still wishing to see better and faster results. I have tried the shakes once again with an enzyme tablet and it was still a no go. Will look for the ISO PURE thanks Hawkwind.

When I first started training I was using a whey protein shake to help with my protein intake during the day. I found that the whey made my skin break out and I just wasn't feeling up to par. Now, I use Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard 100% Egg Protein. Everything seems to be fine.
