Default Need workout advice for bad back/sciatica

Hey guys! I was in a car wreck a few years ago and I ruptured a disc and sustained injury to my sacroiliac joint area. The chronic pain I have prevents me from doing most exercises. I am not happy about the weight I've put on around my thighs and bum and I'm looking for simple, low-impact exercises that'll help me get rid of some of the yucky cellulite and tone up my muscles. I do have a swedish ball but am at a loss as to what to do with it! Any suggestions?

I'm not sure but I think all your exercises should be seated rather than upright...

Anything I can do for my thighs while I'm in a seated position?

the only exercises I can think of for thighs involve your back - the main ones (leg press and squat) seem to be quite heavy on your back...

I'll have a look around and I'll post them if I find any but I doubt there are any, sorry!

Have you tried swimming? I know it's not exactly what you are looking for. But swimming is pretty low-impact and there are often classes you can take that do use some weight resistance while in the water.

Talking

You know I didn't even think of that! I'm sure that would do wonders for my back too, in a therapeutic sense. That's a great idea! Thanks!
