Oh i am sorry,
Sunburn kills, I try and stay away from the sun, although i have never burnt since childhood.
Have you got some calomine lotion? ( dont know if its called that in the states mind?) that helps a lot, I used to use it on the children if they caught to much sun and generally it would have taken the burning down by the next day.

I always used to find they would catch the sun if it didnt seem to warm.

Ouch! I know how painful that can be. I use clear aloe gel when I get that burned.

That sounds OUCH! Like Hawkwind recommended, aloe vera gel is very cooling and soothing. Also may be camomile.

Best wishes to you.

I grew up at the pool. I was a lifequard until my 20's. I lived in MD and I usually had one mild burn every year. Now, I live in SW Florida and I never go out in the sun with less then 30 SPF, a had, and sunglasses. I burned my left arm and shoulder down here on a road trip to Daytona beach way back in '82. I spent 3 days on the beach with my left arm and shoulder under a towel it was burnt so bad. So sorry for your misfortune!

Next time you get burnt, as soon as you get out of the sun take 400-900mg of regular aspirin. It stops the capillaries in the skin from bursting all the way, which is what causes the redness in a sunburn, and helps it heal faster. I got burnt 2 days ago, downed 900mg at once, and it was gone in 2 days. My dad got burnt too, I told him to take some and it was gone the next day.

That, plus a good base tan helps :P

EDIT: By the way, post pics so I can properly evaluate the burn. In a bikini. Holding a piece of paper with your phone number on it.

I did soak in a vinegar bath, that does help & thanks for the advise on the asprin, I'll do that.

I do wear protection, just didn't on Sunday - you know the boat, overcast, had a few drinks - yep, I know better! I do tan, it just takes a bit & yes, that's me in the photo on Saturday, on my boat - pre burn...............

Overcast is the worst day to go "unprotected". The light cloud cover just allows the harmful burning rays to get through. I keep the aloe in the fridge all the time so when/if I have to use it, it is nice and cold.

I have an aloe plant in my back yard so whenever I've gotten sunburnt I just went outside and taken one of the leaves or whatever you call them and cut them open in half and just scraped off the aloe vera gel inside it and had someone put it on me.

It's so cold but it's so relieving...

just makes me want to just

PUT IT ON THERE! lol

Traz, I find that is soothes a mild burn and with the a/c kicking in the house, heavenly. I take 2 Advil, hit the fan on low so I get some circulation over the affected area and I am out like a light. Oh yea, I drink like a fish. An ER Tech told me that drinking when you have a sunburn really helps. I am not sure why but OK.

I can't afford to get sunburned right now! I can't take anti-inflammatory medications while on X-Factor...Also, I am sure the inflammation from the actual burn would be worse as even the smallest insect bite or acne spot gets incredibly red and inflamed while on this stuff!
