Default my GF told me she would work out with me

I was so excited when my gf asked me to show her my new weight bench/squat rack/cables and as i was showing her and telling her what i do with it, she told me she would work out with me sometime. I am so pumped about this because lifting weights is such a huge part of my life and now hopefully we'll be able to connect with each other even more. I have always wanted her to come work out with me sometime when we'd spend the weekend together at college but now that summers here she finally told me she wants to. I doubt she will get too serious with it, but i want it to be an enjoyable experience for her. I am not going to say anything about diet unless she asks and even then i am hesitant because i kno how crafty and manipulative you women can be and i simply can not envision a convo about her diet going well haha

my question to you ladies is what i should have her do

i have a bench that goes incline flat decline, barbell with a squat rack, leg extensions/curls, preacher pad, pulldown bar, adjustable height cable with D-bar and small bar and a couple db's that i can put various weights on

keep in mind shes never really lifted weights before

There are a lot of ways you can approach this. Almost any good basic beginner program would be fine. I usually tell those that are just starting out to do 2 sets with 8-12 reps while they acclimate to lifting and while learning to lift correctly.

How many days a week would she like to train? An upper/lower split is often a good way to start out.

Don't worry about diet at this point. Getting her started at training is a good place to start and as it becomes a part of her lifestyle diet tends to fall into place as results start to show up.

good luck, it will probably end in tears!

Unless she's happy leaving you to tour the weight room while she does her own thing or....you have to guide her like a lost puppy through everything and you pray she wants to do cardio

gym time is my own time, your a brave guy as your workouts will suffer by playing 'gym instructor'

I prefer to train on my own too....it's serious business. The last thing you want is to be held back.

True, all the above. I also like to train alone. But once your girlfriend understands the basic principles of training she will be able to train a bit more independently. It's definitely a labor of love...but in all honesty two people with similar goals and lifestyle is better a better mix than one partner not liking the lifestyle or understanding the other's goals.

I've seen it work...as long as you understand that her goals may differ from yours in the long run. But at the very least she'll gain an understanding (hopefully) about your chosen lifestyle.

the big test will either be:

*trying to calm yourself when you see a guy leering over her as she runs on the treadmill or on the exercises on the adductor machine

*trying to cut the leesh when you want to do squats without having to rack/unrack your weights when she wants to play

i forgot to mention that i will be doing everything in the comfort of my own basement so i wont have to deal with douchey guys oggling her...my plan is to either do my serious routine before i do a little with her and thne just do a bit of light work when i'm showing her what to do...thanks for the advice!

My EX tried to lift with me

She didnt liek how i screamed at the top of my lungs all the time to hit that last rep

She also didnt like me banging my head into **** lol

Go figure
