Lmao! By the time they got done with me...it was war wounds! Endo is pretty serious stuff. It can cause some serious pain. I had an 'endometrial mass', that was causing pain all the way up into my collar bone and deep into my back as well as down my legs because of the nerves it was pressing on.

The GYN doc suggests Motrin for sure and you can use a hot water bottle - it actually increases the blood flow - well not heavier - but changes it a bit so the cramps are less - something like that.
heat - just try heat on the belly |

I had period pains when I was a teenager. Not so much now although the discomfort is there for sure but doesn't necessitate any pain killers. I bump the hot water bottles and also now they sell a patch in the UK which is mentholated I believe for heat relief in the tender area. You stick it on your skin.
Note: Hawkwind is one amazing woman after what she's been through.

There are a lot of things you can do for your period and it's problems...
1) You may want to get a hold of some progesterone cream.. if you are in the states you can get it over the counter... if you are in Canada you need doc's perscription. A lot of doctors will tell you that it doesn't help, some don't even know what it is - my doc is alternatively minded and she prescribed some for me --- it works! You take it on the 15th day of your cycle until you have your period -- then you stop. 2) Read Dr. Christiane Northrup's Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom -- She is an OBGYN and has some good info. 3) I take a product that has vitex in it... this has made a world of difference for me.. please email and I will send you a site where you can get it 4) Exercise 5) Some of you ladies may have undiagnosed depression / anxiety -- that can really screw with your menstrual cycle Hope this helps |

Hi ladies,
I'm almost 45 so here's hoping period monster goes away soon. I'm perimenopausal so either I have no period for six or 8 weeks or I have a period that just lasts that long. It's very crazy. One thing my OB/GYN suggested to me is to start taking an advil once a day about a week before. Then when the cramps actually start they are not as bad. She suggested this to my dtr too. She gets migraines and cramps. I work for an internal med Doc during the day. Whenever a man comes in with some little pain here or there....I'm thinking, you baby. Try having periods most of your life. Then spitting out a couple of kids.
