Default Red Wine and Weight Loss

Aside from the health benefits associated with red wine, how does it affect weight loss? Let's suppose for a second I've got those last few stubborn pounds and all the little factors matter at the moment. I've checked every hidden corner of my diet and one question remains, is it better to have that small glass of red wine a night or is alcohol still alcohol when it comes to losing fat? I've heard so many mixed answers searching through the web. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

A glass or two per day of red wine is supposed to be great for a number of things...I don't know if it would signifigantly impact weight loss though as the benefits are due to the antioxidant properties of the grape skins. One thing is certain though...any more than a glass or two and you will definitely have a negative impact on your weight loss...

Okay great, so the nightly drink stays in my diet plan. I've always been a devoted beer drinker and have had a hard time finding a wine with a taste like. Of course, I happen to like the really sweet red wines which are probably loaded in sugar. Any recommendations on some that are not so high in sugar and taste good? Thanks guys.

I don't know if they really have any added sugar...but I would imagine that they have around the same amount of natural sugar as grape juice or other juices...

I really like Yellow Tail's (Australian) Shiraz and also the Cabernet Merlot mix. Also, some of the California Zinfandels are good, and I am not talking about the white Zinfandels!!!

The French drink a lot of red wine and in general are a rather trim nation. I like a good Merlot but it does stain the teeth sadly....
