Birth Control Patches Kill.

There have been reports of birth control patches killing people, better be careful ladies. On a side note, what do you think of my new sig?

Actually, it's the estrogen in the patch. There's a 60% increase of estrogen exposure as compared to a 35 microgram pill. And this higher estrogen exposure is causing deadly blood clots in many women. More and more GYNs are urging their patients to switch to the pill or the NuvaRing.

I knew that birth control in general was associated with increased risk of blood clots, but I am worried about the patch being worse...I had never heard that before...

Estrogen thickens your blood, making it easier for blood clots to occur especially during a menstrual period! Why do i even know this ****!

I think it all depends on your body my friend was taking the shot for 3 years and got osteoporosis and my mom has been on it for 17 years and hasn't had one problem. My friend at work her cousin got a blood clot off the patch within the first six months and I have been taking for awhile and I've been cool. I have heard a really bad thing about every birth control.

yea no bc is best..but then condoms only have like a 85% effectiveness.....or something like that....

Those dissolving spermicidal films are pretty awesome. My GF uses those as a back up for the patch...

84-95% effective with typical use, 98-99% effective when used consistently and correctly (its so sad I know all this stuff..lol). But that's why two methods of birth control are always better than one. I try to go for three...(1)condoms with (2)spermicide and (3)birth control pills. I am the original safety girl. LOL

I used to use those as my only form of bc when I first got married and I never got pregnant. So even those work well at preventing pregnancy...for me anyway.
