I don't see where it would. I'm sure the judges are aware that more than a few of the competitors are mom's that went through pregnancies. Plus, once you are all 'tanned' up it's hard to tell you have stretch marks.

I had thought about competing. But it won't work with my backpacking training and that is more important to me. I have a ton of stretch marks and even some surgery scars and I wasn't going to let that stop me.

If you want to compete...I say go for it.

Welcome back!

I would think that tan in a can stuff or whatever it is that they use would cover most of it up, no?
Phat Chick would probably know, not because I'm saying she has stretch marks, but because she competes, and she'd probably know the answer.

By the time you get on stage, with the tanning, and the distance from the judges, you won't even be able to see them. Stretch marks won't hold you back.

Whatever happened to headnurse's competition?

Back on topic, no, stretch marks will not be an issue. Tanning will help mask but ultimately it's the shape you're in that makes you win not your flawless skin.

LOL actually i do have stretchmarks (not from having kids---since i haven't had any). I actually have a few on my hip area. Not exactly sure where they came from...maybe just from growing/going through puberty or something.

The tan is SOOOO dark that it almost completely covers tattoos even. I remember one show, seeing this guy who had a FULL back piece that you could barely see. Of course, if you wanted to become a pro/Olympia contender, perhaps getting majorly large tattoos all over the place isn't necessarily in your best interest. But otherwise, tattoos and stretchmarks shouldn't affect your placing.

Of course there is no denying that flawless skin is nice, but in reality, MOST athletes have stretchmarks somehwere. As long as you come in nice and tight (conditioning), stretchmarks are irrelevant. I've seen men compete with stretchmarks in their shoulder/armpit area, or women with stretchmarks like my or in their ab region or upper thighs. Again, the tanning products you use get you SO incredibly dark that it is amazing what it will cover.

Speaking of which---the tan (most tan products at least) really gets everywhere and on everything and it can stain clothing. Baby wipes work really well for cleaning toilet seats (although best to hover, if you aren't too exhausted, otherwise you get toilet seat marks on your butt/thighs LOL!). Wear "garbage" tanning clothes and bring your own towels and sheets if you are staying at a hotel. And try not to touch the walls LMAO.

ONe last random thought---with the tan--- wrap your bikini/posing suit (mainly the straps & waist band area) with seran wrap. Put it on, and then peel off the seran wrap. SUCH a great trick. It saves you from getting tanning goo all over your nice suit.

as far as competing goes... ive seen creams advertised on TV which hide hideuos scars/stretch marks temporarily. If you were on stage for a night I think that stuff is all u would need

I've heard about that stuff too. But "competition tan" is sufficient. I have scars from a surgery and it covers perfectly fine. You can see the scars in terms of skin texture.... but as for colour, competititon tanning products are SO dark it will virtually cover everything. It really is it's own thing.... you woudln't use this tanning stuff just to look good at a wedding or anything LOL so it's not like your mystic-tan spray stuff that 'normal' people use for every day purposes.

Tattoo/scar "cover up" and things like that that they use for movies, for instance, shouldn't be used. The stuff won't blend well with the tanning products and you'll end up with a big fat mess.
