Thanks for the encouragement! I like the idea of having a piece of clothing to measure my progress against. There's a dress I've been eying at Victoria Secrets for like a year now, I was waiting to lose some more weight before I buy it but now I think I will just go ahead and buy it now in my *goal* size and save it for inspiration. I'm getting excited just thinking about being in that dress lol

I think it's amazing you all (Robyn and Jay and I'm sure plenty of others) have lost that kind of weight with hardwork and dedication. I am really just going in 10 pound increments so I don't get overwhelmed.

I am TRYING HARD to hate my scale but I just can't!!! Atleast I did not weigh-in today, I think I will go back to once a week...maybe twice. But not everyday! That's an improvement!

You should put that phrase on one of those tight a$$ muscle shirts. "If this shirt is tight, it means I'm dong something right" lol I like that

New workout for you; Beating the scale with a sledgehammer It works the shoulders and back very nicely.

Anyways, once you get used to it, it becomes like second nature. I'll look at a menu at a restaurant and figure out exactly what I can and can't eat pretty quickly. Though... I'm guilty of cheating once in a while, I just had a couple chocolate chip cookies that my wife made...

Theres a big study, and this is talked about alot at my store i frequent...

Blood types have alot to do with the supposed, burning process of diffrent foods....

Certain blood types should avoid certain foods, and some other should have more then others....

Also, depending on what your eating, you may, or may not be getting enough protein/carb ratio to make your metabolism excell at its fullest potential...

It seems like when you eat a few cookies your body dosent digest them as fast as certain other foods....

Just my 2 cents

if you have the money try nutrasystem...(I guess is spelled) and you will see what you need to eat.
My girl has gone through the same issue with slow thyroid and no weight loss etc...
I tried to help her out with the food but I never realized how little food she need it..lol
While I was training her she would mantain and build muscle but no weight loss beyond 5 lbs.

On nutrasystem for 2 months lost 15 lbs. And I told her to up her thyroid medication a bit (20% higher) too which helps. Now shs couldnt be happier but her food is very small portions and she eats every 2 hours which she tried in the past anyway but most of this food is low glacemic which makes a big difference!

True, I have heard about this before. I read something on it in a health magazine probably about a year ago. But since you mention it, I think I am going to google it and see what it says about my blood type.

Hey vassille, I'm glad nutrisystem is working for your girl! I just don't think my problem is getting too many calories though. I tracked before I posted and it was 1400-1600 depending on the day. I just can't see how I'd not stay STARVING at 1200 calories (which is what nutrisystem keeps you at) working at 6 days a week at an hour plus. But I am painfully aware at how well (or poorly) your thyroid functions can dictate the success of your weight loss. I am going to schedule to see an endocrinologist here and get all my levels checked again. I am glad nutrisystem is working for your girl though! I just really feel like I need to understand my body so I know what it needs and how to feed it for a lifetime, instead of having prepackaged meals.

Minor update. I made some changes last week based on your suggestions and I'm down two more pounds from last Monday. Primarily I am trying HARD to get more protein in each meal and also try to get a snack in once or twice a day (ups my calories). Hopefully if I stick to this I can keep on down this path successfully.

As a side note. I've noticed the WEIRDEST thing. Everything I've read says to weigh yourself in the mornings. So my weigh-in days are on Mondays, BUT EVERY SINGLE MONDAY for the last month if I weight in as soon as I wake up, the scale is actually higher (by one or two pounds) then if I weigh in on Monday evenings? But the lower weight is what I maintain through the rest of the week so it isn't just a fluke. Has that ever happened to any of you all? I think it's a little strange but I'm just glad the scale is moving downwards!

Thanks for all the great advice, it's working! Hopefully I can keep working it b/c it is SO hard for me to get in protein in my breakfasts/lunches. I am not a lunch meat person because they taste SO salty to me, so I'm struggling with coming up quick lunches with protein in it. Same thing with breakfasts because I can eat a couple hard boil eggs and be ok but everything I read says no more than a few eggs a week so i don't know.

Glad you've lost 2 more pounds. But please....PUT THE SCALE AWAY! LOL...try to rely on measurements only for a while if you can. My weight fluctuates up to almost 7 pounds daily. Sometimes heavier in the AM.

A good quick protein that is great for you is tuna. Some people eat it straight from the can or bag and some people make tuna salad with low fat/no fat mayo. The reason it says no more than a few eggs a week is (I'm assuming) the yolk which is supposedly where all the bad stuff is. Stick to the whites and you can eat as many as you want. I eat about 2 dozen a week, if not more! Another easy way to have readily available protein is to make 2 servings when you make dinner and take that the next day for lunch. That's mainly what I do.

Bah, the typical egg-hater biased run-around. I say eat the yolks. Granted that there is a lot of fat in there, and also it's high in cholesterol but I'd say that a yolk a day isn't going to kill you. Hard-boiled is a little hard to maintain without the yolk (that's the best part!) but it's doable. But if you make yourself an omelet or a breakfast burrito (carb smart or whole wheat tortillas) use a yolk:egg ratio of 1:3. Makes all the difference in the world. Less "bad" stuff from the yolk and more yumminess than just straight whites.

Congrats on the weight loss too by the way, keep trying to kill the scale though, the bastard'll die eventually.

Default Thanks!

Just wanted to let you all know that from March to today I am down 37 pounds. I have followed the advice you all provided and it is working for me. Interestingly enough another piece of advice I followed that I did not believe at first, was the whole doing less cardio and letting my diet take care of the rest. I used to do ALOT of cardio (somewhere to the tune of 60 minutes 6 times a week) and little strength training. Now I do 35 minutes Interval Training (not HIIT just regular interval training) on M, W, on Fridays I do my longer runs for 4-5 miles and on these days I also do abs/arms. T, Th I do incline training/lower body. I think the combination of eating throughout the day, eating more protein and cutting out complex carbs after lunch is really doing it for me.

Just wanted to say 'thank you'! And I will keep you all posted with my progress!

That's great HG! Does that mean you've started to plateau though (judging from your other thread)? But anyways, congrats on your progress.
