Default Distance Running Advice Needed

Hey all. Didn't see a forum that really fit my topic, but here it goes anyway. Move if needed.

I decided yesterday to run a 10k rally for breast and testicular cancer. The event is coming up in three weeks and will be the first distance run I've done. I know I can run 7-8 miles regularly and I think with proper diet and motivation I can push out the last leg for a good cause.

I need some advice on a proper endurance diet. My current diet does not emphasize carbs since I've been cutting, but I know that for this sort of activity I'll probably need to eat close to 60g of carbs for breakfast. Could somebody please advise me on how they think I should prep the week and morning of the event regarding food intake and hydration?

The rally starts at 9AM. I'll probably get up at 6AM to make sure I have time to stretch, eat and begin digestion.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I would go to a running forum, Runnersworld Discussions - Runners World Discussions for a start. You'll be able to get more specific advice from distance runners via that site.
