For the average guy the recommended sugar intake per day is a maximum of 12 teaspoons of sugar (48 grams) or roughly 9 percent of daily calories, now consider most people are getting 30 percent or more of their calories from sugars, just make sure your getting your sugars from natural sources such as fruit and veg rather than candy and soda pops etc.
PS. This will make you laugh, the US Sugar Association, which includes such giants as Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and General Foods, has criticised the World Health Organization, saying that their recommendations of roughly 9% of daily sugar calories are "unfair, misguided and misleading". The industry supports a sugar consumption limit of 25%. Last edited by POWERJIM; 02-22-2008 at 02:11 AM. |

What do you eat thats full of sugar then if youre not drinking soda? Wayne is right about insulin sensitivity. at the least itll keep you from getting lean and worst case itll lead to diabetes.

The average american consumes 50 POUNDS of sugar a year from drinking soda alone. That's 480 cans. Pretty effin ridiculous.

Duh, don't you know America leads the list of most obese people in the world. There's people that haven't seen their dick in over a year, let alone probably use it. I enjoy a crisp can of moutain dew or cherry pepsi/coke about four times a month. Aside from soda and fruit and some other stuff, sugar really isn't something that is found in large abundances in various foods. What exactly are you eating that you think is sugar packed? Edit - PJ, your the man for posting nifty stats.

Thankfully my parents didn't let me have pop as a kid. Of course, it was painful for a while but I got over it. I'd go to other peoples houses and actually refuse pop cause it was carbonated and I hated drinks with gas. I was such a rookie drinking pop every time I went out I got the hiccups everytime.
Some fruit drinks are also packed with sugar, sometimes good sugar, but mostly bad sugar. Last edited by ambientdeath; 02-22-2008 at 07:18 PM. |

I just eat lots of candy, or at least its seemed that way recently. its probably not as near as much as I think, but I was just wondering what I should be eating in that area. My creatine made me think of it, because someone posted about syntha 6 and all the sugar it had in it
EDIT: my creatine has 24g of sugar per scoop. -_- ditch it? Last edited by Spinman; 02-23-2008 at 09:20 AM. |

What kind of Creatine are you taking that has 24g sugar per scoop? I would ditch it and get a good Creatine Monohydrate Powder. I looked at several online and NONE had sugar, or anything else other than the Creatine Monohydrate. Maybe yours has sugar to spike your insulin so that it is absorbed much quicker?
Check out Trueprotein.com or your local GNC.

Spinman: As others have already suggested, go with the straight bulk creatine mono. Bulk Nutrition sells 1000 gms for $14.99. If you can come across a better deal, let me know. I'm looking into doing my first creatine mono cycle soon. I've only tried CEE and Kre-Alkalyn so I'm looking forward to going back to the old school ways. Oh, and as for the sugar...it has it's place (like taking grape juice w/your creatine mono) but the body doesn't require sugar to function (as far as I know) so the benefits of not consuming sugar or consuming small amounts of it far outweigh the "benefits" of consuming it. |

yeah I ditched my creatine altogether. I didnt want to mess with the cycling, saturating, extra drink after WO, and everything else. Just go straight protein and food now. Still have a sweet tooth though.. and it kills me lol.

Your decision was probably the best one you could've made, especially considering your logic regarding wanting to establish a sound diet before incorporating any performance enhancing supplements. You'll see that you're going to be able to achieve better results this way.
