Default How Do You People Spice Up Your Chicken

How do I spice Up my chicken Breast Without using stuff like Shake and Bake which I avoid???
I do occasionally use just plain hot sauce but its getting boring and sickning.
Anyone marinade?? and what do you use if you do.

I use Adobo and Sazon....I've never actually checked the labels, but I know that Adobo is pretty salty....but boy oh boy is it tasty.

[LMAO...I just read the labels: for Adobo - con pimienta, it has 0 calories, 0 g of fat, 0 g of carbs, but 350 mg of sodium per serving. The Sazon - con culantro y achiote, has 0 calories, 0 g of fat, 0g of carbs, but 170 mg of sodium per serving].
When I use the adobo and sazon, I usually marinate the chicken with for a little while with both of them, a little bit of vinegar, lemon, and olive oil.

Sometimes I use just lemon, and sometimes I'll used a fat free italian dressing too. The italian dressing is so good.

I'm also a plain type of person, so I can just grill chicken breast with nothing on it, and still love it. (I do that a lot actually).

Hmm...lemme see:

- lemon pepper
- cajun seasonings
- blackened seasoning
- garlic
- light bbq sauce
- honey mustard (not the greatest I know)
- italian herbs
- chipotle marinade
- fat free italian dressing

I have a lot of ways to do it, not all the best though...some seasonings have high sodium content so you have to be careful if you're watching that. But there are indeed many ways to cook a chicken...

sweet: Pineapple and Teriyaki
spicy: Garlic, pepper, red hot, vinegar, olive oil, pinch of cumin

And I do use some of the various marinades you can pick up premixed from Lawrys.

I also do the roasted beer can chickens once in a while too - whole chicken, 1/2 a can of your choice of beer, sit the bird on the can, and either bake, or grill til done. Very tender/juicy.

cumin (a tiny dash)
fresh garlic
fresh lime juice
parsley
cilantro
olive oil
Paul neuman's lite balsamic vinaegrettee (sp)
lo sodium teriyaki

I use whatever I can find, but usually check the labels to make sure they are not high in salt. Sometimes I just throw it in a pot with some stewed tomatoes, red/yellow/green/oranges peppers, olives, red onions, garlic, parsley, onion powder, etc, etc, etc.. and cook it up.

Take your choice on the peppers, lol.

I've always wanted to try that beer can chicken on the barbie. I'm always afraid it may burn. On the grilling shows on tv, they say to put the chicken in the middle of the grill and turn off the middle burner?

Yeah - that is what I do when I grill it. I use a catch pan to catch the juices so it doesn't flame up too....just in case. I've also done it where I only turn on the far right of the 3 burners, put the can/chicken to the far left, have a pan of soaked mesquite chips over the flame to create smoke/steam.

I just use chilli and garlic purees. Either marinate in it earlier or just spread it on the meat with a knife while its half cooked. Pepper

You'll like it. Season the outside too - salt/pepper, whatever seasonings you like. They'll cook in.

(don't use Old Milwaukee, Natty Lite, Keystone, etc.) Use a halfway decent beer, I use canned Heineken.

This is a good question for a thread as I myself am plain chickened out!
I eat 3 chicken breasts every day...Thats my morning, lunch and afternoon proteins (all chicken and sometimes even for dinner) and I am frankly growing sour on it...Time to start eating some lean beef.

But for chicken I have used the following......

Spices and seasonings
- Seasoning salt
- Chicken seasoning
- Garlic
- Lemon herb
- Steak seasoning

Marinades
-oranges
-lemons,
-garlic
-pineapple
-BBQ
-Honey
-Peanut butter/almond
-Hot wing sauce
-Teriyaki etc..

I love chicken,... I could eat it all day, eggs too! Most people get sick of eating the same thing day in, day out.

Nice on the marinades, but the hot wing sauce would kill me and give me heartburn!
