Default steamed or fried rice?

I hear some people say steamed rice is better than fried rice and vice versa. Can someone tell me which is better and why?

I honestly don't know, but I'd rather have steamed. I hate the word "Fried"

i agree with this. but some people cant handle it straight so try mixing your white rice and brown rice for a little bit. like half and half. then after a while you can just start eating straight brown.

thats what i used to do. i eat rice everyday since i was able to eat solids and thats how i got used to it.

but in regard to your post. go steamed. make sure to rinse your rice a few times before you cook it

Default Fried means BAD?

I like cookie monsters suggestions.

Most asian restaurants use vegi oil (soybean or corn or safflower or mixed) to saute vegies. Then they add boiled or steamed rice to the sauce pan with the vegies and oil. That is what you are eating.

Its good to have this oil, it is a healthy source of fat. But do you know how much you are getting? If not, eat only occasionally. But most restaurants can tell you how much they use. I doubt its more than 2Tbs per serving. Thats pretty good! You need at least that much just to stay alive anyway. So long as you dont exceed 30% of your calories from fat, you are alright.

I prefer my rice without oil because I get my fats from cheese. Bad, I know, but as a vegitarian I use low fat cheese as a source of protien.
