I believe it does carry hydrogenated oils. It's best to stay away from foods that contain that.
Yep, now the food companies are hiding MSG (monosodium glutamate) under names like Hydrolized Soy Protein, Hydrolized Corn Oil, etc. This stuff binds to the same receptors on your body that amino acids bind to, so I would think it is definitely not good.

Yeah, it probably is. Go for an all natural peanut butter brand that contains only peanuts and maybe some salt. I use Smuckers Natural. It will have fat in it, but not the hydrogenated kind. It contains mono- and polyunsaturated fats which is good for you and necessary on a daily basis in small amounts. Plus, it's tasty and a great source of protein!

Lean ground beef is good especially if grilled. If you are making burgers just get rid of the bread and mayo and you should be fine.

I love Smuckers natural (sometimes it settles but just grab a knife stir it up a little and good as new)

Have a little fun with it! When I buy Lean Ground Beef, I dump the meat into a mixing bowl and break out the cutting board and skillet.

1 pound lean ground beef or lamb or lean ground sirloin
half a small onion
2 oz goat cheese
2-4 oz of roasted red pepper
1 clove garlic
salt and pepper

-dice that onion up real small. dice that garlic clove up real small. heat up that skillet with a tsp of EVOO until you can splash a little bit of water in it and it spits at you. Now that the oil is really hot, toss your onion and garlic in there and carmelize them.
-toss the onions and garlic into the mixing bowl.
-cut up the roasted red pepper and toss in the mixing bowl.
-add crumbled goat cheese to mixing bowl.
-salt and pepper to your preference. maybe even some cayenne powder if you want some heat.
-(once the onions have cooled enough) dive your hands into that mixing bowl and make sure everything is good and mixed together!
-break into 4 equal parts and flatten out burgers!

I wrap up three in saran wrap and put in the freezer for another day. you should have a couple of weeks to eat and it thaws in an hour or two.

I use a George Forman grill since it is too wet here to bbq now and you don't need anything extra for this burger! It is soooo flavorful and pretty damn healthy too! I use a spelt bun with a little mustard and slivered onion.

holy crap that sounds great... i'm going to try it out (minus the red pepper) but it sounds tasty. Which brand goat cheese do you go with?

The goat cheese I use it out of the Organic section. Brand doesn't matter. What ever they have that is organic! (montchevre crumble goat cheese is what is in my fridge at the moment)

You should really add the roasted red pepper. It is NOT a spicy pepper, but sweet and the roasted ones are AWESOME! I got my peppers jarred from the organic section. Maybe try it in one of the 1/4 so if you don't like it, you don't ruin the rest of it.

Here is a great idea for a chicken stew I made up. Very healthy and tasty!

1 can (15oz) Organic tomatoe sauce
2 cans (30oz) Organic stewed tomatoes
2 cans (30oz) Organic chili beans
1 cup Organic frozen corn
1 Whole onion
2 pounds chicken breast
1 jar of thick and chunky salsa... temperature to liking.

In a pot, combine tomatoe sauce, stewed tomatoes, chili beans, jar of salsa, corn and diced onion. Temperature to medium.

Dice chicken into cubed, bite size pieces and cook in a skillet. Season with salt and pepper.

Add to pot and mix well. I generally cook it on medium for 10 minutes stirring every few minutes. lower temp to and cook for an hour or so, stirring every 5 minutes or so.

Should make 10 sevings.
Serving size = 1 cup

calories - 266

fat - 3.5g
protein - 34g

add cayenne for heat or chili powder to make a chili.
substitute turkey or steak in place of chicken.

I break it up into 5 plastic containers and freeze 4/5. Take one container out the freezer the night before and heat it in the morning into a thermos for lunch.
