My opinion...Yuck! I wouldnt eat sardines, nasty to me. I'll stick with my Fish Oil capsules. The smell of tuna is strong enough to me.

Yeah, it has it in it, as well as every peanut butter besides natural. It doesn't taste quite the same but its still good, and MUCH better for you!

Hehe, okay let's say beside the taste , I love the taste as for now...
But is it too much of fat content in that 11g??? altho about 5g is from EFA.

Also 40mg of cholest seems a bit high...

But is there any other problem with this fish on a nutritional side.

I was wondering the same thing. Except I was wondering of the smoked oysters in cottonseed oil.

What seems odd to me is the sardines have a much lower sodium than the oysters. The Oysters have 340mg. fat 9g, cholest. 55mg, carbs 10, Protein 12g.

An alternative I used to mayo when making tuna or chicken salad was no fat soy mayo. The brand I used was Nasoya. It had a funky texture if you just put it on, say, a turkey sandwich, but mixed in with tuna or shredded chicken, you could NOT taste the difference and there was no texture issue. It contains very few calories, no sacrifice on the taste when used in a salad type mixture and zero fat. And by the way, I do not like soy products and very few fat-free products are appealing to me - but this was one option for me that was great all the way around.

Robyn, Kraft makes a fat free real mayo dressing, not soy. It has 0 fat and only 2 carbs per serving. You might try this instead.

I tried the miracle whip no fat stuff today, mixed it in some tuna salad. I didn't have a sandwich but I tried a couple bites of the salad, it was pretty good! Especially for something that was no fat!

I believe it does carry hydrogenated oils. It's best to stay away from foods that contain that.
Yep, now the food companies are hiding MSG (monosodium glutamate) under names like Hydrolized Soy Protein, Hydrolized Corn Oil, etc. This stuff binds to the same receptors on your body that amino acids bind to, so I would think it is definitely not good.

Yeah, it probably is. Go for an all natural peanut butter brand that contains only peanuts and maybe some salt. I use Smuckers Natural. It will have fat in it, but not the hydrogenated kind. It contains mono- and polyunsaturated fats which is good for you and necessary on a daily basis in small amounts. Plus, it's tasty and a great source of protein!

Lean ground beef is good especially if grilled. If you are making burgers just get rid of the bread and mayo and you should be fine.

I love Smuckers natural (sometimes it settles but just grab a knife stir it up a little and good as new)

Have a little fun with it! When I buy Lean Ground Beef, I dump the meat into a mixing bowl and break out the cutting board and skillet.

1 pound lean ground beef or lamb or lean ground sirloin
half a small onion
2 oz goat cheese
2-4 oz of roasted red pepper
1 clove garlic
salt and pepper

-dice that onion up real small. dice that garlic clove up real small. heat up that skillet with a tsp of EVOO until you can splash a little bit of water in it and it spits at you. Now that the oil is really hot, toss your onion and garlic in there and carmelize them.
-toss the onions and garlic into the mixing bowl.
-cut up the roasted red pepper and toss in the mixing bowl.
-add crumbled goat cheese to mixing bowl.
-salt and pepper to your preference. maybe even some cayenne powder if you want some heat.
-(once the onions have cooled enough) dive your hands into that mixing bowl and make sure everything is good and mixed together!
-break into 4 equal parts and flatten out burgers!

I wrap up three in saran wrap and put in the freezer for another day. you should have a couple of weeks to eat and it thaws in an hour or two.

I use a George Forman grill since it is too wet here to bbq now and you don't need anything extra for this burger! It is soooo flavorful and pretty damn healthy too! I use a spelt bun with a little mustard and slivered onion.
