Default Cardio and Weightlift

I've been weightlifting for a little over a month. I read that you can't burn fat and gain muscle at the same time so I've tried to stay away from cardio. Twice during the past month, though, I've done cardio before I started my lifting session , and the day after I would be a lot more sore than if I just did lifting. Yesterday I did 45 mins of cardio before my session and now I'm sore today. I was wondering why this is so.

You can do both at the same time but the longer you train the harder it gets. You're brand new to training so it doesn't apply to you. You can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time rather easily as a newbie, unless you're a serious ecto or endomorph. If you're going to do cardio the same day as your lifting do your cardio after. What are your goals, stats, history? Post some pics and your diet.
