Default Too many exercises per muscle group?

Hello all,

This is my first post,so excuse me if I get things wrong lol.

Just a quickie on how many exercises I should do per muscle group?
At the moment I do about 5 different exercises for each group of muscle, I.e Shoulders:

Seated Military Press:
x12 x10 x8
Standing Dumbell Military Press:
x12 x10 x8
Front Shoulder Raise:
x10 x10
Side Dumbell Raise:
x12, x10, x8
Dips:
x10 x10
Bent Over Dumbell Raise:
x12 x10 x8
Barbell raise (to neck, close grip)
x12 x10 x8

Is this too much? I fit it into about an hour! build up the weight, keep a reference to the previous weeks lifts and any adjustments to progression.
Been doing weights for about a year now.. but stopped for 6 months. Now I've been Training for the last 2 months, and determind to carry this on indefinately.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My shoulders started hurting reading this. 5 sets of shoulder work on its own day, combined with whatever you're doing for chest, is going to wear your shoulders out in my opinion.

I did a variation of "body part" training over the summer...just for something different, and I found it wasn't the most effective way to do things. I was doing:
Mon - Chest (flat bench, incline bench, maybe cable x-overs or pec deck)
Tues - Back
Wed - off
Thurs - Shoulders (Seated or standing press and one other exercise such as upright rows or raises) and arms
Fri - Legs

For a while, it felt great and was a nice change of pace from what I had been doing...but eventually it started to take its toll and I went back to training movements instead. You may want to consider that, and your shoulders will thank you.

I used to train shoulders on it's own... but even then I would only do 3-4 exercises

now I do push/pull/leg

I don't even do direct shoulder work all the time... if I do it's 1 or 2 exercises

i dont even do 5 different exercises for chest or back. agree with 2-3 for shoulders and other smaller muscles (i.e. biceps/triceps).

I'm not so much into how many sets/reps/exercises etc you do as much as I am into hammering the intensity. I'd rather do 6-10 sets of one exercise than 2-3 of 3 exercises.

But I also don't restrict myself to a rep count, set count or whatever. No imposed ceilings put on my regimen...
