Default Dirty Bulk

Hey lads,

I know I'm not exactly one of the crew around here but for those of you who remember me, I just thought drop by and tell you I'm still alive and kicking! I have been a bit slack with my lifting recently and even worse with keep my online logs up to date but I will be kicking off a new program this week and I am going to give it 100%.

The good news is this program includes deadlifts and -- my favourite -- front squats. I think my program is going to work a treat in conjunction with my new found apetite that has recently emerged from the woodwork which I refer to as my "dirty bullk". It basically involves eating whatever I can, whenever I can, until I can longer eat.

I'm not sure why I'm so hungry, all of the time, all of the sudden, but I figure it won't hurt to squeeze some quality lifting in between meals. Hopefully, I'll have somehting to show for it in my logs a month or two down the track. Anyhow, thats my bit for now -- happy lifting lads!

dirty bulks have no real place if your going to fill the diet with 'whatever you want to eat' which usually leads me to think....sh1t food choices.

i have utilised a dirty bulk before and yup... i gotta a whole lot fatter but i went from 200lbs lean with little mass to 270lbs fat but with a lot of mass.
The dieting down for my show was a b1tch but i gained in one year that the lean bulkers achieve in 3-4.

now i have that mass, after the show i kept things clean and added some more mass but with reserved carb intake, sitting at 230lbs with some abs.

if you want to make drastic changes you need to take drastic action but know what the fck you are doing in terms of your diet choices, keep to a plan and be prepared to diet down after for a good 16 weeks solid.

next year i will be trying to add some serious mass to make an impact on the next level of competition so i will not be lean bulking.

*keep the carbs from low GI sources such as oats/sweet potato/basmati rice
*do not use bulking shakes as they contain primarily sugars
*keep in the veg
*take your fats from nuts/olive oils/fish/peanut butter... not burgers
*up water to 4litres a day minimum
*gauge in the mirror to see if your gaining too much fat, tailor the carbs if and when required

I've been eating like this for just over three weeks now and I have found my lifting has been alot better and I have only gained a small amount of fat. I tend to steer clear of overly sweet and greasy foods because I dislike the bloated feeling I get after I eat them so even though I'm on a 'dirty bulk', I am still maintaing a relatively low body-fat percentage. I am going to update my photo thread sometime over the next few months when I am happy with my gains and show you all how I went with my dirty bulk. Thanks for the replies lads.

Cheers for tips mate.

Can I get away with drinking my weight gainer shakes during my sessions?

I don't notice the ill effects from a crappy diet until about 2-3 weeks after starting the dirty deed - you might start noticing shortly.

Even if you don't notice an overall difference straight away, you will get so much more out of your training by supplying your body with efficient, nutrient rich energy. By eating junk you are drastically slowing your progress & strength gains.

I noticed a small fat increase in fat over the first ten days but it seems to have plateaued since I have started training harder. I suppose we will see if things get worse over the next couple of weeks.

it just seems like dirty bulking are for people who lack the dedication to eat a clean healthy diet

but if your goal is to put on as much weight as possible, whether it be good or bad then go for it...

I don't think eating a burger or a slice of pizza here and there is a really big deal as long as your diet is mainly intact, but to eat dirty all the time... I'm cool of that

Anyway.."dirty bulking"..yeah..that is just a way of saying you are not gonna pay attention to diet. I don't but I don't consider it bluking. I just see it as living a less restrictive life. My wife is a vegetarian so the refined shiat rarely makes it into my house so I mostly eat what I want when I want.

Guess I am jus tired of folks using dirty bulk as an excuse to just eating and living life. Why be ashamed because you dont stick to some strict food intake ritual. Hell, I am the first to say that I am too lazy to count all that crap and love food to much to restrict my diet. And besides, it is fair season and fried Twinkies are on the menu this year. Add another cardio day for me =)

I'm not using a dirty bulk meal plan as an excuse to eat whatever I want, I go to great lengths to make sure I take in enough calories during the day so I can stack on the mass as I sleep at night. Sure, my meal plan is fairly lenient as long as I meet the general caloric and protien requisities for the day and for a guy with a naturally small apetite like myself, thats a bit of a mission.

I think it's up to you man. When I think "Dirty Bulk", I think of guys carrying around bags of McD's and Taco Bell (oh god I love Taco Bell, 1/2 lb burritos...mmmm). It depends on what works for you, if you see your fat gains go crazy ahead of your muscle gains, I'd say eat cleaner. But if you're liking what you see in the mirror, keep doing what you're doing.

I'll start to worry about what I see in the mirror towards the end of October when I start my Summer cut, until then I am happy as long as I am steadily gaining weight.
