Default Am I out of shape, or is this some sort of asthma...?

So I have not done any serious running or sports since about June 2008. Over the last year my cardio would consist of riding the stationary bike or the eliptical.

Whenever I would do any hard running (over the past year or so) I would experience this but never put any thought into it until today when I couldnt do sh!t.

I went out today to do some HIIT/wind sprints. I warmed up with a medium pace lap around the soccer field and at the end my throat/top of my lungs were not feeling well, almost a tightness. I rested a bit and then proceeded to do my sprints up a hill, about 20-25 metres, jog down, and repeat. I did three or four and I felt very unwell. Difficult to breath, tightness in chest, not gasping just pain. My legs and everything else were fine just my throat/upper lungs/chest area.

I've never been 'out of shape' when it comes to sports or running, this is my longest layover (besides after a MAJOR injury) but I have never experienced this before. Just wanted to know if any body had any ideas (I saw a few docs and people a lot smarter then I posting) as to what this may be before I book a doctors appointment to get checked out, or to hunker through it and see if it goes away.

Chest tightness is one symptom of asthma but I'm not sure it's really an indicator. Any coughing or weezing? I have a litle bit of asthma when I do cardio and if don't use a pump, I cough and weez like crazy and yes my chest hurt also!
