Default Weight gainer

Always had trouble gaining weight, tried adding high calorie foods to my diet but i struggle to eat allot, especially when trying to eat 6 meals a day.

Just got back from holiday, want a fresh start with lifting, could anyone recommend a good weight gainer and tell me the difference in scoop amounts per serving etc compared to regular whey protein?

Thanks.

What does your routine look like? how are you training? if your training correctly then your body will demand food.

I gain weight much better on 3-4 huge meals per day as opposed to more frequent feedings. Remember you're trying to slow your metabolism a bit...

Eat and lift for how you want to look, not how you are...

Was lifting 3 times a week, upping it to 4. Push - Pull - Legs + abs. I've posted it a few times, pretty much all compound lifts, took alot of advice and it's a solid routine.

How do you slow down your metabolism? I thought you done that by eating regularly?

My meals are 3 mains (breakfast, lunch, dinner) with snacks in between (Carbs pre workout, Cottage cheese before bed etc)

Edit : I also take 3 protein shakes a day.

No, you speed your metabolism up by eating regularly. You slow it down by eating larger in less increments. Usually, someone eating 3000 cals in 6-7 meals will have a faster metabolism than someone eating 3000 cals in 3-4 meals. Since you want to gain weight, you're going to want to slow it down a tad.

Like you said, if its hard for you to gain weight, then youy are going to need more than 3000 calories a day. If I was you I would aim for 4000; 4 meals of 1000 calories.

Ok lee you win .

Ive pasted this straight from a word document which i use to keep track of my weights, some stuffs abbreviated and you might not understand it ... 8 as a warm up with a semi heavy weight and 2 sets of six with a weight which i can get 6 at failure!

PUSH 8 6 6
3 x chest smth - bench press
3 x chest smth - inc bench press
3 x chest dbl - flys
3 x shoulders smth - press
3 x shoulders smth - upright row
3 x triceps bw - dips
3 x triceps cbl - pushdown

PULL 8 6 6
3 x back smth - deadlifts
3 x back smth - bbl rows
3 x back bw - pullups
3 x back cbl - seated row
3 x biceps dbl - standing curl
3 x biceps dbl - hammer curls
3 x biceps dbl - preachers

LEGS AND ABS 8 6 6
3 x legs smth - squats
3 x legs smth - standing calf raise
3 x legs sld - leg press
3 x legs sld - calf raise
3 x abs bw - leg raise
3 x abs lev - twist
3 x abs w8 - crunches

Before anyone says it .. in know i know. Using a smith machine is terrible but i dont really have a choice, best option i have locally .

Anything high in fat has a ton of calories but you'll want to keep your diet pretty balanced probably.

Btw, you are doing those sets heavy right? That sucks that you don't have free weights but you gotta make do with what you have I guess.

Does SMTH stand for SMITH machine?

If so, you really shouldnt be doing heavy deads on the smith. Heavy squatting is not a great idea on it either. If you have access to free weights youd be much better off using those.

Yeah "smth" is smith machine. Really? Only problem is the free weights in my gym are 30kg dumbells so i could only deadlift a maximum of 60kg using them, and i currently deadlift 115kg so its no use.

I know eventually im going to need to move gyms but im looking to achieve some of my goals before i do that.
