Default Want to start squatting: Need insight on what to get for home.

I work out at home, and currently I am only squatting holding 40lb dumbells and that isn't cutting it anymore. I have a bench, so I was thinking about buying the powerline squat rack but I didnt' know if it is junk. Here it is, what do you guys think?

Powerline Squat Rack - Dick's Sporting Goods

If this will be fine, great! If it's not, what do you think about buying a new bench for $20 more that has a walk in squat rack? Something like this:

Proform Fusion 2.0X Olympic Bench - Dick's Sporting Goods

Is this junk? I have no idea how a walk-in squat rack will work. I work out in my basement, and don't have room for a big cage so I need to do something as mentioned. I'm getting eager and want to work out my legs so any advice is much appreciated. I'll pull the gun on buying one once you help me make up my mind

Thanks.

P.S. If this should be in the General Bodybuilding forum I apologize. I tried creating a topic there but it wouldn't let me

I figured that since everyone here is all about squats that they would love to give someone advice on what the best equipment would be for a guy like me lifting at home. I'll take it since I got no responses that it doesn't matter which piece of equipment I get.

Do you need all of the attachments of that 2nd link (the bench and what not)? If not, I'd go with the first one if all you need is a rack. Either one looks fine to me, really, but no sense spending money for accessory items that you don't really need.

I have a walk in squat/bench and love it, but mine is a little more solid looking and also has cables.

But I think a great choice is to buy a rack. You'd also need to get a bench seat, but a rack is great because it is multi-functional (bench, military press, squats, rack deadlifts, etc)

Thanks guys. I lucked out and found that same squat rack for $50 on ebay used. He lives around me and I'll just have to pick it up. I'm so excited to do squats because my legs are so puny. I think that once I start squatting I will see great results in my legs. I just hope it helps make my upper body grow too.

I like how that white rack has the side bars bowing out so you can squat wider, that is pretty cool. I need to buy a power rack soon for my home gym, any idea on how much those usually run?

Yeah man , thats a cool piece there.
That one is a little more on the high end though, very solid piece.

You can get a decent rack for about $300 to $700, or even upwards of a thousand. This is depending on the quality and the maker of course.

Here's a decent and solid lokoing one for $350

I have a walk in style now, works for me as a rack takes up too much space for me, but preferably I'd choose the rack over what I have now

yea I have a walk in one too but being able to do some rack deads and have the safeties there for when I'm squatting alone would make it worth the money, I've got plenty of room, thanks for the link.
