Was wondering how often a max lift w.o. should be done for someone going for size and gr8 definition ??? And also with a max lift day how many sets are recommended?

Ask alot of pro Bodybuilders what their max lifts are and they wouldnt have a clue, if you have little interest in strength then why would you max out really? However i wouldnt max out more than once a month.
