Default 300 lbs ALMOST

i just got back from vacation so i hadnt lifted in a little over a week so since i was fully rested i decided to max out my bench. i hardly ever max out its been about 2 yrs since i have done so. anyway, i did my proper warm which progressively brought me up to 235 for 1 rep which is my normal ending weight for my warm up. during my workout i usually hit 260 4 or 5 times, 4 sets so i was thinking i should be able to do 300 at least once. after warm up put 255 on which i knew i could do easily one rep. then went 265 1 rep again pretty easy. went to 275 one rep which i got up relatively easy. 285 hit a little snag but got it up. 295 got it up without any help from spotter but i struggled. i had a feeling i would struggle getting 300 up but i thought i could do it. i was pretty confdent. i put two 2 1/2 lbs plates on each side for an even 300. i controlled it nicely coming down and got it about 1/4 the way up and just couldnt get it past there. i know there isnt much difference between 295 and 300 but mentally i was disappointed. just seems like 300 is such a big difference over 295. im thinking that if i made bigger jumps than 10 lbs at a time i may have let some more in the tank. now im actually kind of motivated to do it. in a few weeks ill try again.

I know you're disappointed but I'm jealous. Seriously, 295lb's is still ****ing impressive. It'll be a long time before I can do anywhere near what you can do. Most people will never be as strong as you are dude. Three hundred isn't far away for you mate. You'll kill it a month or two from now.

why did you screw around with 265, 275, 285, and 295? Warm up to the 255 lbs 1 rep, then load the 300 lbs on there. Geesh, you burnt yourself out before even getting to your Max.

Bump to this. Just do a few warm up sets next time and you should be able to get 300 easy maybe even 315.
