What do you mean by weakest? You won't necessarily be making more progress by working it twice a week..

my weakest part meaning that i cnt bench too much righ now. i am trying to gain strength.
some of teh exercises are flat bench, incline, cable, for shoulders- shoulder press, rope pull down (i think thats what its called), |

you're over working the shoulders, and doing them too soon after chest day. if your chest is the weakest, drop your reps to like 4-8 and go heavy. it worked for me.

YES
Always space out chest and shoulders by about 72 hours (3 days) Shoulders and heavily involved in Chest work, so you are ruining your recovery time for the shoulders by hitting them up on consecutive days Space them out, or do Chest/Shoulders together in the same workout to aleave yourself of the problem. You should also seperate Back and Biceps by a day or 2 as well TBH * Also, why are you hitting up chest/triceps twice per week but the rest only once? I personally think overtraining/injury is slightly paranoia.
after reading about the article about that inmate that tore through straight jackets and handcuffs, I mean, he worked out EVERYDAY all the time. and he was a BBBEEEAASSTT. just my two cents. I did shoulders the day before chest and I was fine. everyones different tho, but i wouldnt SUGGEST doing shoulders before chest everytime. thats fa sho

i think i asked this one dude at my gym bout shoulders on chest day (thas how i wanted them originally) n he was like thats too much stress on them. reason i want to workout my chest twice a week is to gain strenght but if i can combine my shoulders with my chest it makes things alot more easier. something like this? mon-chest/shoulders tues-back wens-bicep/triceps thurs-rest fri-chest/shoulders sat-legs sun off or replace wnes with sat? repeat on monday?? |

hmmm... combining them would be hell dude. You wouldnt be able to lift nearly as much than if you did them seperately. Try it out tho, If you did them same day, then theyd have adequate time to rest, and gains may be possible that way.
p.s. I am by far no personal trainer, I just like to theorize

yea it would be hella hard but when i did my previous rutine (chest, tri, shoulders) no one mentioned it in tar. n i got the same amount of rest but as of right now ama try it n see how it works out since i will be getting good amount of rest. |

yeah man, let me know how it goes.
it will exhaust the hell out of your shoulders, which should help them gain, but because your shoulders will be weak your chest may not get such a great workout or, it could be more reliant on chest when doing bench, therefor creating a better workout for your chest alone because shoulders are shot. Im interested

I have been doing them this way for 1.5 years now and have great gains from day one... I dont know, tell me if you think my shoulders are lagging as result ![]() ![]() Also, you should be doing chest first, shoulders next, IMO . Last edited by BiggerGuns=LongerDrives; 05-14-2008 at 11:30 AM. |

The above is your routine right? Can I ask why chest twice a week and back and legs only once???? I think your logic is off. You can still make progress with this routine, but I certainly think you can do better |

Most should not, but alot of people can get away with it...I do
It depends on how you train and how long you have been training for My routine is this M - Back/Legs/Biceps T - Chest/Shoulders/Triceps W - OFF Th - Back/Legs/Biceps Fr - Chest/Shoulders/Triceps S - Off S - Off BUt I used to train once per week, per body part with 1-2 days off per week. I feel as though now though that once per week is inferior to twice per week. I would suggest to pattern a routine around the one above and cater it to your needs, spread out the days if you need to and seperate legs from back days. Everyone thinks you must be on a 7 day cycle, but you can easily do a 10 day cycle just the same |
