Default what size weight do i really need

i been looking for dumbells and all i see are 10lbs - 50lbs. which i THINK sucks...i been looking for something bigger but they are harder to find...but my question is do i need 10lbs-50lbs? anybody here still use these size and weight about 140? i want to see if its worth buying cuz i know 10lbs maybe to 40lbs would be a waste....i dont really know i dont have any dumbbells to compare. thx

Well it depends on how advanced you want to get, myself i never really go below 60lb but if your planning on doing alot of exercises which require lower weights then get a lighter set.
