Default 18 Month Journey Over

Me and my friends have been lifitng for many years and we have never done the flat bench always have used dumb bells for all chest exercixes. We have read all about the pros using a flat bar and the pros about using the dumb bells. So we started for 9 months doing all chest work with a flat bar. The first thing we all noticed was the tremdous strian on our shoulders and how sore they got. At the end of the nine months we did not notice a whole lot of size in the chest but it did do a good job sepreating the shoulder from the chest. And it always put way to much strain on the shoulders. Nowback to the dumbbells for chest. After those nine months we all saw increase in our chest and the defetion. Our shoulder did not hurt near as much as they did ith the flat bench. Our conculsion was that dumbells build alot more mass and def in the chest aera and is easier on the shoulders. Now with the flat bench we thought it to be really hard on the front delts and it did a good job spereating the shoulder from the chest but was not a good mass builder or for defition in the chest. We pefer dumbells over a flat bar just my 2 cents if anyone was ever wondering. My thing is this what works for one might not work for another.

Are you sure your form was good?

Check this out.

It's a segment on 'The Fit Show' on the Bench Press with Milos Sarcev.
Apart from other things, it goes into the reasons why your delts & tri's would be taking too much load off your pecs.

Well worth the watch.

Well your right on but this isnt exactly a news flash. Haha. Dumbells are way better at building mass than barbell. The only reason i do barbell is to switch up every now and then to keep the muscle guessing.

I did.....after watching that vid.
When I have a rough time getting that last rep up, I really expand my chest and my back arches a little as a result - It really helps though!
