Default how close on close grip bench

How close should i put my hands together when doing close grip bench? Do i put my hands together (touching) or like 6 inches apart, becuase ive seen both. Id appreciate it if someone told me what is the correct form. Also this works mostly triceps right?

thanks

Yes, close grip does work triceps. Also a bit of chest too.

I find that 6 inches apart is best. If your hands are touching it puts a lot of pressure on the outside of your wrists.

Use whatever grip is the most comfortable, but keep your elbows close to your body, not out wide like on a regular bench press.

Keeping your elbows in is the key. That's what makes it difficult as well. If your elbows are not in, you are not doing yourself any good. Keeping your hands about 6 inches apart would probably be best as well.

bump to the 6 inches. put your hands on the bar and measure with your thumbs....if you can touch 1 thumb with the other then move it until you can ALMOST touch the other thumb, but dont.

make sense?

theres no 6 inch rule, but the best grip is what truely is comfortable for you as long as you elbows are close to your side. I find that keeping my arms parrallel with my body is the best grip.. which in reality is probably around 6-8 inches or so.

Yes but everyone suggested the 6 inches with no apparent reason.

I said 6-8 inches as an estimate of my grip, however i just measured to see what it really was and it was actually 10-12 inches (way off i know). That distance is due to my upper arm being against my lat (not my elbows touching the side of my stomach). Anyways i feel that is the most comfortable position for me because my wrists are at right angle to the bar and not putting too much strain on the wrists as a closer grip would do.
