free weights will always reign supreme compared to bowflex!
bah, cannot stand bowflex!!! My friend once bought the chuck norris sledge with cables thing... i used it once to see what it was like and i already knew it would only offer a few months worth of resistance before i would have to weigh myself down with free weights lol.

I own a bowflex and used it religiously for about a year (a year that I had no gym membership). Once I coudl afford it again I joined a gym. Not that I didn't like the Bowflex, and I did get pretty cut up on it. There is just no subsitute for free weights (at least for me). I love lifting free weights. The Bowflex is a good substitute if you can't get to the gym for a couple weeks to at least do something, but you won't make the same kind of strength gains.

I had one, and all i will say is that it is a great place to get started. Mine was a good motivator cause i spent so damn much money on it so i figured i should use it. Its like spending 200 bucks on running shoes and then putting them in the closet.
After saying that it will only take you so far, you will never look like the guy in the sales commertial from using it. I sold mine on ebay and got nearly what i spent on it after two years of use. |
