Default hot tub, sauna, steam room = bad after workout?

Hey, this may be a dumb question but i just joined a club and i was wondering if after i hit the weights is it a bad idea to go into a hottub, suana, or steam room? Does that negativly affect my workout progress? If not which would be the best?

thanks

Not sure, fella But my brother told me he started growing a lot of hair on his back after he started using the steam room regularly. Apparently a steam bath opens up pores in your back, which in turn allows the free growth of hair that might otherwise have been suppressed. So now he uses the baths sparingly.

Could it be that your brother is genetically programed to have hair on his back and that it just started growing? Don't blame steam baths for that, its ridiculous!

Of course. I said, "...that might otherwise have been suppressed". I am not saying steam baths are bad.

i wouldnt hit the steam room or sauna as i'd be more worried about having a protein shake post-workout

hit the showers, then afterwards mix a protein shake with a shaker

I once read somewhere about a study that was done that said sitting in a hot-tub, sauna or steam room slows muscle recovery. I don't know if it's significant, but either way I'll try to find it.

There's nothing like a good steam after a workout though.
